Read the text i received from my former gaels club team mate Laugh. Rib tickling aside but he is right Ireland were very poor nothing in midfield, no creativity, McGeady please how did he stay on the field the pitch that long? We had Hollywood up to his usual against the big teams when it matters he nearly always fails to deliver. All in all the worst thing about tonight was the booing at the end, Slovaks were in the world cup last year, they knocked Italy out, they are no mugs even though i did think we would beat them. Now just in the door going to put the feet up after that.

They played like they were afraid  they might make fools of themselves by getting injured at the start of season. One big professional foul!

Some of them are very average and some of them are past it but they are capable of better than what we witnessed tonight.

I won't be returning for another international.

I can't blame anyone not going back to that DR. Maybe they would be beaten out of sight but at least they might try and win the bloody thing.

see thats the problem d.r...lots of irish people want to get behind this irish team...but traps tactics make it very hard to enjoy watching the kind of tripe we saw tonight..hense more people will have the same thought as you..d.r.and not return...

Slovakia probably should have won that game.

While the booing was disgraceful, it was no where near as loud as it appears to have been made out on tv. The Slovak fans were excellent, a credit to themselves noisy throughout.

After some very encouraging stuff in the friendlies in terms of the style of football we seem to have taken one step back again.

as far as trap is concerned ... the means justify the end result ...its an italian thing....

Why was the booing disgraceful?? Yes they should get behind the team but at the end of the game after probably forking out €30-€50 on a ticket they have every right to voice their annoyance in last nights performance. They where absolute cack

Get a grip no reason why Ireland should be able to wipe the floor with a team that went to the world cup ! It's not Man U v West Brom they're at now. What would they have done if we had lost Satflight rioted?
By:

Well then genius if Slovakia are so good why where you saying Ireland should be odds on??

I never said they should wipe the floor with them but let's be honest, Ireland barely strung 2 passes together in 90 minutes of football at home, when we got free kicks that could be in decent positions we just floated them up in the air for their centre backs to mop up. Had they been more clinical they would of put their chances away. We had virtually no centre midfield at all, every time they broke they had acres of space and looke dangerous.

The result does not merit the performance, we deserved to lose the game and lose the game comfortably. On another day they would of put the chances away and then maybe people would realise how poor we where.

rioting?? they booed the team off, so what. What the hell has that got to do with rioting?

.....don't mind retardfingers.....he probably thinks he was unlucky to lose his latest even money bet.....the man is clueless.....a fantasist who makes up clients..big bets..being a pro..and generally craves praise off this forum where he doesn't even know anybody.....he probably think ireland played well last night he is so clueless.....

agree with premier, we were rubbish and showed  s.f.a....i'd have booed them off ....no players willing to ditch tactics and play their own game ..a game we had every right to feel beforehand we could have won...but trap decided a defensive gameplan and a point were enough...
By:
Rocketfingers
When: 03 Sep 11 14:42
FFS did you they think that Trap would change for that one game? They knew when they were buying their ticket what did they expect to see cavalier tactics.

We all said it here what way we would play like we all said it but i think people thought we would be good enough to beat the Slovaks. But don't understand why people think we have a devine right to beat them. As for players looking to ditch tactics well that's just laughable.

.....ireland where rubbish yesterday..yes slovakia are a decent side but they should not have been able to give us a run around like they did..agree with the others the fans have every right to boo them off if they feel like it..

..it's better for them to boo them off..rather than cry into their pot noodle dinner..sobbing uncontrolably after doing their last tenner off their dole just like you did..you fantasist clown

.....you know absolutely nothing about football..clueless..and your tips on football are laughable..Laugh..so give it up you dope.....

to compare any soccer match to a gga match is sacrilige.theres more excitement and entertainment in 5 min(except donegal matches!!) of a gaa match than any soccer match!!

Better entertainment currently  at the Sligo Showgrounds  now and probably even better at Dalymount later for €15.00

Our players spent the night kicking the ball aimlessly up the pitch, miscontroling the ball and dribbling it into touch and not making themsevlves availabe for passes and thus panicking those in possession. The midfield as already said was a wasteland as far as an Irish presence. I spent 60.00 to watch this drivel and feel sorry for those who brought their family.

And I couldn't understand why the stadium was only 75% full on such a crucial night!

The ground was about 80-85% full and one should never boo their own team no matter what sport.

We need to luck at accomodating a creative, constructive midfielder, also a move to a 3 man midfield with 2 wingers and a striker up front might help us retain the ball better, either Gibson or McCarthy should be in the team imo, I'd nearly have both, Houlihan is thereabouts as well
By:
Rocketfingers
When: 03 Sep 11 18:02
I seen McCarthy in the under 21 match the other night, now maybe he was not going at full pelt but on that evidence he certainly did not look like ready for the senior team although he may still be better than what we have. This Robbie Brady looks a real footballer though.

wr i was as proud of rovers as you were..im was genuinely thrilled..but what i see with trap is going back to the italian mentality of the 70s...get a goal and shut up shop...donegal like!..

Hahahahaha :D

Louth v Meath not even gant would claim that as a high standard game Laugh

Kildare v Donegal and please this is the game Spilanne went mental at Laugh

Wexford v Armagh they did not play?

Cork v Kerry i'll give you that and Dubs v Kildare although not a great game either. It's the worst championship in the history of the hybrid game.

The hurling championship is a far better championship every year.
By:

I think Kavvie meant the two games Wicklow and Armagh played.

Derry vs Armagh
Kerry vs Cork
Kildare vs Meath (In the qualifiers)
Mayo vs Cork
Kerry vs Mayo

Theres 5 games i watched this year that i found enjoyable with a good standard of football.
Just because Sligo were brutal doesnt make it the worst Championship in the history of the hybrid game as you say, and if that is what you believe then Shaneboy Fantasy is right and you are a clueless spoofer.

yes i meant wicklow and armagh...2 thrillers which could have gone either wat.more entertainment in last 5 min of drawn game than in all irelands qualifers so far..in my opinion!!
