Enright will probably ride Bideford unless the weights go up for Russell to ride him.

Does Ballyholland get a penalty for his win at Galway ??
Report Catch Me ifyoucan September 1, 2011 2:41 PM BST
one,

"He'll (Ballyholland) get an entry for the Kerry National and we'll see what the handicapper does to him. Another option is the conditions race he won at Navan (on 24th September) a few seasons ago."

Blazing Tempo still looks good value to me at 7/1 with boyles  after declarations  to do the Galway plate / kerry national double ..... scotsirish stays in so carrys 11 - 6 ..... know he ll stay and handle the ground having won on heavy a few times before ...... can see him go off half those odds
Report Anaglogs Daughter September 13, 2011 3:33 PM BST
MINELLA BOYS has successfully arrived in Ireland for a shot at the Guinness Kerry National after initial attempts to cross the Irish Sea were hampered by storms.

Trained by Charlie Longsdon for Penny Zygmant, Minella Boys had been turned away from the ferry on Sunday as high winds caused by Hurricane Katia made travelling treacherous and threatened to do the same on Monday, which would have meant the nine-year-old missed the race.

While describing the trip as "a bit of a nightmare", Longsdon is hopeful that the 20-1 chance can give him victory with his first runner in Ireland.

"We were turned away on Sunday but we got over on Monday night. It was a bit of a nightmare but we did it alright and he's there safely," Longsdon said on Tuesday.

"I'm hoping he'll run well, it's obviously a very competitive race and you never know until you try it. He will like the ground and it's very exciting for us to have a runner in Ireland."

Jockey Andrew McNamara is also expecting a good performance from his mount in the Kerry National, Ballyholland.

The ten-year-old, winner of the 2009 Galway Plate, was successful in a 2m6f chase at Galway on his last start and McNamara is "quietly confident" about the 14-1 shot's chances.

"He's a good chance and has a lovely weight."McNamara told At The Races. "He's a good jumper and I'd be quietly confident about him. I think a horse that travels and jumps like he does always has a chance at Listowel."

Report stevo1 September 14, 2011 10:30 AM BST
Blazing Tempo for me as well, had decent bet on him at 10s at Galway, goes on ground and has top class form weight maybe only issue.
Also Ruby on expect gamble again as 7s looks big big?
Report Catch Me ifyoucan September 14, 2011 10:53 AM BST
Conditions will be very testing - soft to heavy on both the Flat and National Hunt courses, with the Flat additionally described as heavy in places. The NH track is soft in places.

What leading fancies will favour this going ?

4.10 Listowel - Kerry National

Wide open as you would expect. Goin for a horse has had 3 runs at the track, a win & 2 places, seems to have been laid out & had a recent flat spin to blow away the cobwebs. Has to race beyond 2m 4f today & wouldn't want ground too soft, but at 20-1 I'll take a chance:
