The Tottenham town council have decided to postpone the clean up of the area following the Europa League draw which paired their local team Tottenham hotspur them with  Irish League side Shamrock Rovers.A spokesman for the council said "following discussions with the local police it has been decided to postpone the clean up as it felt that the threat posed by Shamrock Rovers supporters was so great,it was prudent just to leave it the way it is as there wasnt much point rebuilding the area twice in a short period".Fears of running battles have reverberated around the North London area, with rumours that extra police maybe drafted in to help cope with the threat.Scotland Yard have said that they are on red alert for whats called "operation wonky ",while the British army may be recalled from Libya if they have found Gadaffi before the game starts.

Would be interested to hear Giant Strides and Rocketfingers opinion on that match.I thought they were magnificent and felt they did the country proud, also thought the much maligned supporters did much the same.
Report Rocketfingers September 30, 2011 12:03 AM BST
Totally agree Wildman, done the league proud is what i think. Spurs had the extra bit of class told in the end but those 10 minutes when they were in the lead i'm sure if you could bottle half of what the Workrider felt you'd be a multi-billionaire. Tis night like tonight is why you follow your local team, WR could be following Leeds for a million years and he'd never get a buzz near of what he got tonight from his local football club.
Report wildmanfromborneo September 30, 2011 12:16 AM BST
A very magnanamous post,i realise the rivalry so fair play to you for coming up with an unbiased view.
The Shamrock Rovers fans seemed well behaved and enthusiastic yet they seem to have a bad reputation,is that reputation deserved?
Report Giant Strides September 30, 2011 7:25 AM BST
I`m not going to answer the fan question but the team did as well as they could possibly have done. They seem to revel in playing the underdog away from home in Europe. However, if it wasn`t for Brush it would have been far easier for Spurs who were pretty toothless and thought they could walk the ball into the net.
I would have an insight into how Rovers fans felt when they scored last night. The night we beat Aberdeen in Pittodrie in 2000 remains as the greatest night of my life.
Report Sligored September 30, 2011 2:52 PM BST
Thought the fans were magnificent but think the players perfortmance was not as good as reported in some media quarters.
Spurs were very poor in the first 60 mins due to apathy as far as i could see.
Twigg lacks pace and was never going to do anything up front on his own.
I thought stephen rice had a great game until tiring and that brushie played very well.
Great occasion at the same time.
Report GANT007 September 30, 2011 3:39 PM BST
The LOI boys on the TV3 got very excited and may have gone over the top but they have to make the most of the airtime they get.
The goalie was excellent and agree Rice had a stormer.
Twigg is too slow to play up front on his own but if he was any faster/fitter he wouldn't be playing in the LOI.

LOI would be unknown down our way but last night the local pub had a decent crowd watching this match.
Report Rocketfingers September 30, 2011 4:35 PM BST
His game is all about goals, does little or nothing to be involved but can sniff a goal. Although i do agree he was better when he came first.
Report neill d September 30, 2011 4:43 PM BST
Pace and athleticism is just so important in modern football, Rice looked the most composed player from what I saw, very tactically aware with a nice passing range, a good player.

would that lad Shephard not have been an option up front, he'd be a fair bit quicker than Twigg I'd have thought, Twigg was ok, but there were times when he tried to cut in and shoot or pass when he had little support, he should have just shielded the ball and held it up, he took the wrong optiona good few times.
