Australia beating New Zealand this morning underlines the likelyhood we will be facing South africa in the Quarter Finals .....Don t think we have seen anything so far from Ireland to believe we could cause an upset against either of them .....
Anyway as for today looks a tough call ....the prices seem to indicate it also 10/11 each of two with Powers ...i d like to think home advantage would swing it for Ireland .... We should have a decent platform to perform firstly with Flannery back throwing to O Connell and our first choice props holding the scrum ... Need a big performance from earls at 13 .... i think we have be listening now for too long  from some of Irelands senior players how special he is in training doing things they have never seen before ...... It s time now to do it on the field .... I don t doubt  his ability for one minute but he needs to become more aware of players around him and look for the space  to make the  pass ....... I d hate to see him end up like Luke Fitz who never improved his achilles heel of  over running his lines for the past 18 months ....
as i said i have no doubt he can ...today would be a good place to start ....

Thought ref was terrible .

Thought Ireland were terrible .

Thought England were a shade above terrible ( against a terrible team ) .

Waste of time this match .

I was at the game today.

O'Gara failed to get the team going forward.
Sexton was more direct and at least got us into advanced positions.
Trimble was poor.
England even bullied us in the lineouts.
I hope the management know what their best team is.

I am off to Knock tomorrow to say a few prayers before the WC

Have they changed the rules re miracles ?  Mind you most of the old certainties have been queried in last few years , so they might just have .

Seldom seen Ireland's current squad in such a hapless performance . If the objective was to stay uninjured they should have played the "B "side .

On a general point re play / tactics , why when you are playing against 2 big centres and back up forwards dont you try to beat them by turning them , viz a grubber kick between them or just over their heads ?  Is it too logical or a lost art ?  Odds are they will tackle you also without the ball and you will get a free ( its in their psyche to tackle ) .

Yep Kelly, they tried one chip over the top in 2nd half & Bowe nearly gone on to it. Tried to get through the centres too much and that was never going to work today.

no getting away again from how poor and un threatening we were yesterday ..... don t like to be harping on again about earls but once again his achilles heel of not being aware of players around him cost us another 7 pointer yesterday .... he s costing ireland a score a game this season .... i looked back at this again a few times yesterday ...... He spun brillantly out of a tackle on the half way line and was left with murphy and trimble on his outside we no english defender ...one pass and it was a clear run in but once again he decides to cut back inside to the english defenders coming accross ..... most worrying again was him not even looking to make the pass .....
it s so frustrating as i have said before i don t doubt his ability for one second but unless he sorts it out he ll end up an average magners league player

15. Kearney
14. Bowe
13. O Driscoll
12. D'Arcy
11. Trimble
10. Sexton
9. Murray
8. Heaslip
7. O Brien
6. Ferris
5. O Connell
4. Leo Cullen
3. M Ross
2. Flannery
1. Healy

The team id like to see startin the WC - very improtant to get and keep Ferris/Heaslip and O Brien fit along with O Driscoll imo!

Horrible performance again yesterday - could get absolutely wallopped by Aus who looked very good!

Was just goin thru de draw there - should be somethin like this:
