Trading in the Zone is an outstanding read.
A long-shot - but have you "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator"? Jesse Livermore, iirc. Market Wizards is another classic - from memort, he interviewed the backgammon champ [Russell?] who started the "turtle traders" team using college graduates. His goal was to grow & nurish the traders, like baby turtles... |

They actually can work if you are open to working at and changing your thinking styles that aren't getting the results you are seeking plus they can inspire in a sense or freshen up your approach to the mundaneness that betfair becomes after a while. A long-shot - but have you "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator"? No, was often meant to buy it but not sure why I didn't.Agree about Market Wizards. Its been a long while since I've flicked the pages but your far more likely to have a better day on here after reading a chapter or two out of any good trading book than not. This is a good blog too.Plenty of good psycology articles on there. http://www.brettsteenbarger.com/articles.htm |

I offered him 50 so you're ahead of me anyway, I'm out as they say

wmfb, you may be right about the books themselves not working however they do give those who are successful alternative opinions, approaches, thoughts, observations, confidence even, at times when you've hit the wall, to pursue what is mostly a solitary occupation. Hence there is value to find out how others cope with the vicissitudes of the game

Gambling Wizards is a great read. I'd agree agree about Trading in the zone. Smart Money is pretty decent - along similiar lines to the books about the MIT blackjack teams but probably better

Highest bid.Its going to charity anyway so don't be afraid to spend a little extra. Has my bid been successful? A fair bid Prospero.Thanks. If no one else ups the ante, they're yours on condition I can post them for a semi reasonable amount.I am already having problems finding a box to get them in but if you are highest bidder in a day or so, pm me your address and I'll take them up to post office and see how I get on. One point,I swapped Busting Loose of the money game with Johnny Texas poker biography as I hadn't it read it. |

This seems as good a place as any to ask.
I'm doing a bit of work in the house and I've just come across two "Newmarket December Sales" catalogues - one from 1913, the other from 1915. Have I stumbled across my fortune or should I just hide it among the other books I'm going to drop down to the charity shop? ![]() |
