all bets with looking to trade back stake at some stage for an interest. whats your fancies??

top scorer: andy carroll 17.5.
team should improve and will get a good supply.

handicap betting: stoke 18.0
ambitious and looking to add to their squad, west brom look good but a bit too short.

winners: (don't laugh) My team, Spurs @50.0 now

have been backing them a while, they are not good enough to win at current point. but with a one or two additions. huddlestone back, a little improvement from bale modric sandro  etc and an addition of a central back and striker they will do well. my main thinking/hope is that with 5/6 teams so competitive at the top and all taking points regularly off each other, you never know!!

best of luck with your bets.

I fancy Chelsea myself and Modric would want to get his skates on if he wants to win something........Rumour of a cash plus Bennayoun deal for Modric.

benny would not make the spurs team imo, hard to see it.

Big bet is Swansea on the handicap for me bet them +47 and on the spread points. Although i have to say i think Stoke are a decent punt on it as well.

Everton top 6 7/2
Everton top 4 14/1

Blackburn 16/1 finish bottom
Wigan 8/1 to finish bottom

R Van Persie top scorer 10/1

Rooney Top English Scorer 3/1

Irish Guy, first of all Spurs have no chance of even competing with the big boys this season - and this is coming from a fellow Lilywhite!!!!! We are going to struggle to even make CL this season unless we buy a top class midfielder and striker and thats looking unlikely at this stage. We could be bottom half come end of September with the start we have been given. We can all dream but its now time to get real.
Bets for me this season - Man U @ 7/4 to win PL is picking up money. Yhey'll have it won with a month to go this season.
Andy Carroll as top goalscorer at 18/1, himself and Suarez have the potential to run riot this season.
And Bolton to go down at 11/2. Like it said in the RP supplement, they are without Sturridge & Elmander this season and lost their last five games last season. Haven't added to their squad either and Cahill looks on the way out.
Looking forward to the start on Saturday but the title is Manchester bound again - and not the blue half!!!

Everyone outside Dublin is not a farmer........some find it hard to believe.
I have been going over for years........relatives live there and we also have a season ticket.....My brother stayed with them when he was at West Ham for 2 years.
I don't go over to cause trouble or look for fights.......Plenty of Irish go over to Stamford Bridge........Sure 1000's travel to London for matches every week....starting Saturday.

Premier League - Man Utd 7/4+15/8

Been there and done that - best squad, good additions during the summer
Not at all convinced by the Chelsea midfield(stil time to sign 1or 2 more tho)
Arsenal - gonna struggle for top 4 when they lose Fabregas and Nasri, depends how much of the money they reinvest
Liverpool - solid squad now, big summer investment - stil require a Centre back and Left back urgently tho

Think Utd will win easily

Relegation
- QPR 15/8

Summer signings have consisted of 4 free transfers and DJ Campbell for around 1m
Little investment in the squad, are gonna struggle a lot this season

Handicap betting - Stoke +34 16/1

Solid all round team - if they sign Crouch and Palacious id be expecting a top 8 finish

Top English Goalscorer - Andy Carroll 10/1 e/w 1/4 1,2,3

Looks between Carroll, Bent and Rooney - Carroll gonna start all game when fit as team has been set up around him, decetn e/w value

Cool

See lots of support for Carroll here. I have had a proper cut at him to be Top Liverpool Scorer (League only) @11/4. I see it as a shoot out between him and Suarez, and I am not certain that Suarez will be as effective this season. When he arrived from Ajax last year, he was fresh and raring to go after his biting ban. This season, he has obviously been at the Copa America, and added to that defences will be wiser to him. Carroll looks fitter than ever in his life (might not be hard), but what sealed it for me was the pass he showed when getting across to score against Valencia on Sat. Baring injury, I think this is a 5/6 shot.
Report workrider August 11, 2011 12:23 PM BST
i find it hard to belive anyone would fancy carroll to be top goal scorer ....needs the ball in the air most times ...not very quick...liverpool dont have the players to supply him ...prone to injury ....having watched liverpools friendlies so far this year i'd in actual fact would be worried for them....not for me at those prices....
Report Rocketfingers August 11, 2011 12:24 PM BST
I could be dead wrong BJG but i think QPR have what it takes to stay if they can sort their defense out. The team may have been largely built to get promoted from the champ but i think they have what it takes to stay up if they can just bring in 1 or 2 quality players. I like the defender they signed from West Ham Gabbidon but they need more cover back there and i ain't a fan of Derry who is slow or Fitz Hall at full back. I wish the window closed before the season started because i still think QPR will add to their squad. If QPR start as they are they will struggle but i can see plenty of goals in their games. I just think there is more value in some of the existing premiership teams going down than the new boys.
Report Rocketfingers August 11, 2011 12:32 PM BST
Dowling is an awesome supplier, one of the best suppliers of goals in the whole of last season's prem, but i agree can't fancy Carroll for most of the other reasons WR says.
Report workrider August 11, 2011 12:36 PM BST
dowlings past it imo...in fact i never rated him ..i'm surprised liverpool bought him ....
Report kiddo112 August 11, 2011 12:45 PM BST
Agree there are plenty of questions about the Liverpool squad. That's why I have gone for the bet I have, doesn't really matter whether Liverpool over or under perform. However think it has been clear in the pre-season friendlies I have seen, that supplying Carroll will be a major tactic this season. Adam and Downing can supply good ball for him. Also think he will get a good few off the deck (last season V City and V Liverpool for the barcodes off the top of my head).

Suarez to be top scorer @ 20/1
Sunderland to be relegated @ 12/1
Report BJG August 11, 2011 1:00 PM BST
Watched all of Liverpools pre season games and if they are anything to go by Carroll is going to get a hell of a lot of chances to score

Downing has been brilliant so far on the left - Enrique set to sign at LB who also has a crackin left foot and the likes of Adam, Henderson and Gerrard and Suarez to return - id be surprised if Carrol does nt get 15+ at least
Report Rocketfingers August 11, 2011 1:18 PM BST
WR he is 27 and he is a great crosser of the ball, superb at whipping them in, i think he had the most crosses into a box last season in the whole of the prem and supplied iirc 3rd most goals and at 27 i don't think he is past it. But there is a lot more than being a good crosser of the ball for football and i don't think Downing was worth near the amount of money Liverpool paid for him. But for suplying ball and decent ones into the box i think he could do well.
Report db1974 August 11, 2011 1:23 PM BST
I've added Carroll now

Blackburn to get relegated for me looks a great bet. They really struggled lastyear and havent added anybody of great note to strenghten the squad. Poor squad and a poor manager. The only drawback is if they have a poor start Steve Kean will be picking up his P45 and i would be worried that "a new manager syndrome" would occur and they would put a good streak together. At 3.85 on here i think they will trade a lot lower than that at some part of the season.
Report neill d August 11, 2011 1:51 PM BST
United will walk it, City will follow them home, have an interest on Balotelli for top scorer, he and aguero could work well together, he clearly has loads of talent, pace and an excellent physique, he is also entering last chance saloon which makes him a dangerous animal. He has a lot more innate talent than Tevez in my oppinion.

I actually think City will be better off without Tevez, he drops way too deep even when playing up front alone and it destroys the shape of the team. They have no focal point when he plays up front alone. Someone should tell him he ain't Messi, I'd also have ageuro as more talented than him tbh, he is a sub galactico who noone really is willing to pay huge money for. Dzeko is absolutely useless so if the start with Balotelli up front with Silva and Aguero off them, they will at least give themselves a chance.

Also, if there is betting for player of the year, surely people are bound to notice soon how consistently excellent David Silva is, he was the only City player on Sunday who looked remotely like a footballer to me.

Problem with backing city strikers for top scorer is that you'd imagine a lot of rotation. They may not get more than 25 games each. Relegation market is fascinating this year. The 3 promoted teams haven't strengthened sufficiently yet imo and teams like Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton are much weaker. Newcastle could implode at any stage too and I don't rate Pardew as a manager.
Like Bobby Zamora ew Top English goalscorer. Was flying previous to his bad injury last year and I think Fulham have a solid side this year and an excellent manager. Should get plenty of chances.
Agree Silva is a good shout for player of the year if you fancy City to win it. He is a quality player. If Arsenal maintain their top 4 status Aaron Ramsey could be a serious contender for young player of the year at 16/1.
Report neill d August 11, 2011 9:20 PM BST
Yes ramsey is interesting, if Fab goes and even Nasri, the media will really be on the side of the young players being left behind having to carry the can. He and Wilshire are terrific players

Report neill d August 11, 2011 9:23 PM BST
Balotelli is a bit of a flyer alright I know, but with the leeway he is being given, he must be showing them something on the training ground. I know its obvious, but I've seen worse value than Rooney at 8's, he will play all the time. Taarabt at QPR might be interesting in a struggling side, he could do an Adam on it, everything will centre around him, he'll qualify still for young player I think. He has amazing technique.

David Silva and the Kun will see them close despite having Barry who is very immobile, same with toure, but he compensates with strength, a change of pace and footballing ability. Can't have Barry and YaYa in midfield, Barry has to be dropped.

Andy Carrol, hang your head in shame boys Laugh , I need Rooney to stop scoring, hopefully City win at Newcastle and it will put United on a big downer when they face Swansea on Sunday. Another goal or 2 from RVP should do it for him and on paper they have 2 fixtures that there should be goals in them. He had a great season to be fair.
Report Bassanio May 2, 2012 12:09 PM BST
Some good shouts on here, if we leave out the opening Carroll piece.

RVP looked home and hosed a few weeks ago but Rooney has really put the pressure on.

A 2 goal cushion could be sufficient, but 1 more should seal it. It will take a huge effort for Rooney to get 3 in the the next 2 games, but with the title on the line, anything can happen.

RVP really needs to close this out against Norwich at the weekend.
