How hard will it be to get a ticket without connections to any GAA clubs

Not as difficult as you'd immediately think.

Sponsorship huge in the GAA now - think of friends/family working for/with connections to the
main sponsors.

Tickets also issued to all counties in Ireland - cousins/friends/relatives may be able to help here, too.

eBay.

GAA forums - An Fear Rua dot com.

Providing you can afford it, if you want to get in badly enough to the game, you will.

All else fails, the touts...
Report yorker789 August 8, 2011 9:18 PM BST
Cheers so if it comes to buying on the day is it a huge mark up from touts or are there usually plenty around.
Report moneypenny August 8, 2011 11:00 PM BST
There are usually enough to go around on the day. If you get up around the ground nice an early you will usually find a few lads elling them at face value. Keep away from touts
Report Rocketfingers August 8, 2011 11:32 PM BST
My mate was at the hurling final a few years ago, they just went to the pub to watch but they were selling tickets close to throw in for face value and also said no worries getting a ticket on the day of the match, they could not believe it.
Report Cupwinkcook August 9, 2011 11:48 PM BST
If someone offered me a ticket early for a bit over face I'd take it.

Bird in the hand etc, Minor match will be worth a watch
Report Tony Fenton August 10, 2011 10:48 AM BST

Report GANT007 August 14, 2011 10:32 PM BST
The Sligo clubs must get a fair allocation if you just have to place an order.........I wish is was as simple as that.

Between Yorkshire GAA and contacts in Kilkenny i hope to be sorted
Report Rocketfingers August 15, 2011 6:06 PM BST
Same as that, i will be getting mine via the club i played for in Gaelic and their minor allocation. No interest in the GAA in Sligo Sad
Report timberman August 15, 2011 7:31 PM BST
Theres plenty interest in sligo only your too posionous to see it...
Report GANT007 August 15, 2011 8:36 PM BST
The Sligomen I know are proud of where they are from and follow all codes.
Report Rocketfingers August 15, 2011 9:01 PM BST
I wish that was the case only 1 club in the city boundary Cry, GAA shot themselves in the foot when they only banned half the town, more people from Sligo banned than any other county and i t was great to see the soccer plants get Croker open. Anyway I know my fellow Sligwegians and they love sports that have some skill involved so i think if the GAA promoted hurling you would see more interest than you see currently in something like gaelic football.
Report GANT007 August 15, 2011 9:22 PM BST
How was half the town banned by the GAA?
Report Rocketfingers August 15, 2011 9:38 PM BST
I ain't here to educate you gant, why should i succeed where others have clearly failed? Anyway any good Irishman should know the history if this great country.
Report GANT007 August 15, 2011 9:46 PM BST
Fair enough......Was it before sligo rovers was founded.
Report Rocketfingers August 15, 2011 9:51 PM BST
Sligo Rovers don't make decisions for the GAA Gant.
Report GANT007 August 15, 2011 9:56 PM BST
Give me a clue when this ban happened in Sligo or are you pulling my leg again.........I know the GAA was banned by the British in 1918.
Report Rocketfingers August 15, 2011 10:00 PM BST
I lost approx €1.5k tonight, not in the mood for games, leave me alone ya big bully Laugh

Aguero was something else tonight.
Report yorker789 August 15, 2011 10:02 PM BST
My dad told me he knew people in Kilkenny who went well away from Kilkenny to play soccer but some were banned from playing hurling for life when their local GAA found out, that would have been just after the war.Mind you Niall Quinn spoke of that in his autoboigraphy too.
Report GANT007 August 15, 2011 10:03 PM BST
He is a class act and you question the coverage the media gives it.

Kilkenny 6/4 is great value !
Report moneypenny September 3, 2011 4:54 PM BST
If anyone else is looking for tickets, I can tell you there should be plenty available around the ground in the morning. Got a message from a Kilkenny fella last night who was trying to offload 6 tickets.

According to him there will be a good few empty seats abound.
