Ireland is with you for this one, much the better team you should do it, i hear some hardcore Meath fans are not even going to it Laugh

On a serious note, they train very hard and then go out and try very hard on the field. In this way they are a friend of the punter because you know what you are going to get. It is not easy on the eye, but they deserve all the success they get.

Lump on Meath now and lets hope Rocketfingers is not gonna get something right.
I might get a ticket from a tout if I go over early....oh these sell out games.

Kildare are basically a superbly fit handball team

Great to see Gant, wish we could see a sell out over here mate, but then again Meath GAA don't have to compete with a top professional fooball club on their doorstep. Sligo GAA has no chance.

You do know that Meath borders Dublin don't you

Neither do Kerry, Cork, Dublin or Kildare..........Sligo never had a chance fullstop.

I agree db, but that can often be enough at this stage.

I've the Lilys backed at 16s for the All-Ireland. I reckon they'll go close. They're as good as Dublin and unless they draw Cork in the next round of Qualifiers I reckon they'll make semis anyway.

good bet, ya, they always run their race as they say, so its just a question of whether Cork underperform, I think they will have the legs on Kerry. Dublin are nothing special, particularly around the middle third.

DB I'l give you 100/1 that they draw cork in the next round. Its either derry or donegal so cant play cork until the semis at the earliest Grin

Ah, I'll take the 100/1 anyway!

Meath shouldn't be 5/2 at home, it will be very close I think.

I see sold out does not mean what they used to mean, would love to know how many are really at it?!

20000 and sold out.......ground holds 25000 but for health and safety only 20000 allowed.

I wish the GAA were overseeing our ground constraints in Europa League instead of UEFA gant clubs would get away anything sort of makeshift ground, it would be great to be allowed 2 big grassy mounds at either end like you have in Navan, would save us a lot of money. I am guessing the stand is from 1950's or the early 1960's?
By:
GANT007

But sure you lads have to give out free tickets to half fill a stadium that cost €195 million.
I don't think you lads will have to worry about crowds, grassy mounds or not.

Ah Gant you're a bitter man you're forgetting my club sold out their Europa league tickets in a few hours, we could have sold 3 or 4 times that if we had big turf mounds behind each goal, fair play to the local famrers for providing part of the stadium for you. It's a great idea, i envy the simplicity of that gaa stadium.
By:

When: 16 Jul 11 20:21
Well done to your club and why the hell would I be bitter..........I agree, the amateur game is way more simple.
It's there since 1920.

What's the point in putting up stands at either end. It only reduces the capacity.
By:
GANT007
When: 16 Jul 11 20:26
Rocketfingers and his crew would never have capacity problems but fair play to KFC for renting out the seats for the europa game.
By:

UEFA have a proper regulation gant which means we would be laughed out of the football family if we showed them a simple field such as Navan with concrete benches from the 50's and 2 grass hills. We could never borrow seats from Hector's chipper or what ever you now have for your VIP area.

I for one hope we never have to go down the eufa type regulation route.......but then again soccer stadiums have to be set up to segregate opposing fans.

Didn't go to Limerick game in the end Gant, your boys played very well, they'd more toughness in them than I thought.
By:

Best team won on the night.......only 2 traditional teams left Cork and Kerry.
By:

When: 16 Jul 11 21:37
Kerry will be vunerable to Kildare legs if it turns into a dog fight, but then It wouldn't be hard to see Kerry blitzing them either early on and being out of sight.

Cork do most of what Kildare do only better imo.

McGeaney is some coach.

Great coach, they have played one half decent team this year, had an extra man for half the game and still got well beat. All the other teams they played arent worth two bob.

Kildare could be knocked out next weekend.

True, but I reckon the raw material he has to work with isn't the best, especially going forward. He gets them very fit and motivated. They have a shape and tactical organisation. They also try very hard, what more can he do?

They have only 3 class footballers: Doyle, Cavanagh and Micheal Foley.

Lads don't even look at Gant he's in brutal form shown up big time on TV and so was their ground.

It's like way Martin Pipe used to train horses.........might not be the best but fit and ready to run for their lives.

That's a good comparison Gant. I'd be surprised if he doesn't coach Dublin in the relatively near future as well.
