Most of us are not bigots and actually play for local teams during the winter.....when the GAA season starts up the soccer season is over.

Fair enough, but as part of the 'team' when Rovers were moving to Tallaght, you really wouldn't believe the stuff that came from Thomas Davis/Dublin County Board. It was pure vile and had to be seen/heard to be believed. Sadly a lot of Rovers fans who would've gone to Dubs games no longer do. I'll be honest and say whenever Dublin play I hope they lose. Of course the whole thing is not the wider GAA community's fault and I accept that.

i know for a fact what mjk is saying is true ...my sons always went to dublin games before the thomas davis incident....lots of rover fans supported dublin but stopped after that debacle......

So a local incident has us all tarred with the one brush........well at least we know now where the anti GAA stuff comes from.............

Dublin County Board was backed by Croke Park so it wasn't just a 'local' incident. If you think there are no bigots in the GAA then you're wrong or just don't want to admit it.

I find it ironical that the one league of Ireland team that disgracefully sold their ground now are the owners of the best ground in the league.
When i lived in England we all called the game soccer with the exception of the Scots they called it Fitba.

Two things Wildman. The Kilcoynes disgracefully sold it for housing after refusing a bid from the clubs' fans to buy it. Secondly we don't own Tallaght stadium but rent it from SDCC.

Wildman...you are correct about the term soccer..........The Americans call it soccer as they have American football, we have Gaelic football so that's probably why we call it soccer.

Basically the club was on its knees after investing over 2M in the stadium because of delays caused by certain 'anti association football' bigots. The SDCC stepped in and said they would finish it and we'd be anchor tenants. To be fair Gant, any football fan in this Country(and others) will tell you that Rovers are the biggest name in football in this Country. That's just a fact and not just me saying it. Even Giant Gtrides will admit that to you privately Anyhow I'm off to wet the whistle before the game and have a bit of craic with our Dundalk brethern.

Sure at least you lads got a laugh out of Thomas Davis losing their t$TS recently.

MJK..I am glad we agree about the Kilcoynes and dont forget that one year after selling out Louis Kilcoyne was elected head of the FAI,how wrong was that.
Was unaware the stadium was only rented and for some strange reason am delighted it is so.
Am still amazed at how popular League of Ireland is here,i am also delighted as i have always found it strange that people have allegiances with clubs in England that they have no connection with and have never been to.I realise thousands head off to matches in England each week wouldnt they be better off supporting their local team.

MJK & Rocketfingers are Anti GAA Bigots calling gaelic Bogball then again soccer is commonly referred to as Scumball in many areas so there are bigots on both sides...

Timberman.........not like you you letting Workrider off the hook..........He was the main anti GAA crusader for a long time until Rocketfingers emerged late last year.........at least Workrider explained this morning why he hates the GAA.

Lads, grew up in England where Football (i.e soccer) was football, but have to say I do actually use the term Soccer here in Ireland just as I did when I spent time in America and Australia. This is to give due respect to their own excellent national games which also use the term Football. For all its faults Gaelic here is also due the same respect, actually probably even more so given its general popularity, importance in and contribution to Irish society over the years.
MJK you must be some small minded little prat to let such an issue bother you enough to start a thread about it.
