Is it legal to put a bet on for another person on your own account and then pay him the winnings if any acrue.

under a strict interpretation of Irish gambling legislation this is illegal (I can't be arsed fishing out the relevant section), however in my opinion the only time it has resulted in a prosecution was where pub landlords were accepting bets from their customers and ringing them thru to a 3rd party bookmaker (prob for a cut of the losses!!)..
