Workrider picking up where you left off,you have one and a half points.Q3 is wrong while John White won the race it was void but one of the other finishing jockeys had previously won the race.

cant think of the other scottish mountain and  was going to google it but that would be cheating and i'm not willing to do that....i back ben nevis @ 40/1 i think ...american rode it i'm nearly sure....

Workrider you are a true Corinthian thats exactly the spirit of this quiz. With regards the Scottish mountains i always felt that it should have been three, what would Arkle have done to those fences if allowed he would have soared over them like Crisp did in 1973.I thought it ironic that Anne Duchess of Westminster who disliked the Grand National and prevented Arkle from running would later win it with the ungenuine Last Suspect.

thanks wildman for that ... the reason j draper came to mind was eddie newman , father of gerry newman had the 4th in the national that day , watched it at the curragh, funny that any other poster put up the question when was the last time an irish race meeting clashed with the grand national well it was either 71/72 season so it was happening then   ... the newmans  celebrated the following week with a party we were invited to the party ...happy days..

Well done Soldieroffortune all five correct even though thatsurcoco beat you to Suny Bay and JayTrumpOldTom got Greasepaint and Freddie. It would have been incredible if JayTrump did not get Freddie as it was you that beat him three parts of a length in 1965.
Not Richard Dunwoody as i have a clear recollection of him not starting and looking exasperated.

Report wildmanfromborneo April 5, 2011 1:16 PM BST
JayTrumpOldTom you carried a different Yank a  Tommy Smith not the black power sprinter of Mexico fame but as you would know a heavier gentleman.Charles Fenwick is the Yank Workrider was searching for,he rode Ben Nevis.

Report wildmanfromborneo April 5, 2011 10:12 PM BST
You have the first three right, there were seven finishers all Irish jockeys with the exception of Neale Doughty i seem to remember some genius attributing the jockeys failure to pull up down to the fact that they were Irish.
Report workrider April 5, 2011 10:17 PM BST
