You have a short memory.

After researching further in the last ten years a clash has happened once and than was in 2008 with an all flat card in Limerick.
No racing on Monday or Wednesday of this week and there was no racing of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week in Ireland, but yet HRI think it is a good idea to clash with the biggest race meeting of the year this Saturday!! Doesn't make much sense to me!! |

the route point to point is on

If there are lots of punters coming into shops to bet on national, its a good way to boost the Irish betting levy if they have a bet on racing in Tramore.

i think tramore clashed with grand national back in the 90s early noughties

No offence me! but the amount of people who are going to place a bet in Tramore, by the way, will be very, very small!
They will more likely bet on the race before or after the National in Aintree, than decide to chance their luck on the racecard that will be way down the pecking order in newspapers & bookie shops on Saturday. Saturday is not the most popular day for racegoers to go racing in Ireland and with half the country unemployed I think Tramore on the following Monday evening would be far more appealing to the general public, rather than trying to compete with the biggest race of the year!! |

Tramore has definitely clashed with the GN in the past also.

It will probably have a real industry feel to the day with trainers being scarce on the ground.
