Jamie Spencer will ride the Aidan O'Brien-trained Cape Blanco in next Saturday's Dubai World Cup at Meydan.

The former stable jockey to Ballydoyle and Coolmore will be partnering the Galileo colt, two times a Group One winner, for the first time.

O'Brien said: "Jamie will ride Cape Blanco and our Dubai horses will leave on Monday."

Spencer has been linked with a return to the powerhouse team following the departure of Johnny Murtagh last November.

However, O'Brien played down the speculation at the Curragh on Sunday by stating he would continue to use "the best available" jockeys at each individual meeting.

Ta BJG - I suppose using that method will give him the opportunity to put Joseph up on a group horse or two as well.  I feel it'll be Heffernan at home and whoever on the road.

I thought younger o'brien was weak on Quest for Peace as horse seemed to run around a fair bit.QfP may have needed the race as AP's always seem to at the start of season.Though he was nicely backed and sure to 'improve'[;)]...Racing is all about me and mine just like the POLITICS with their family dynasties even though most are not up to the task as we see all the time. IMHO you need a Senior Jockey full stop.,,,

JayTrump, the horse was legless when he drifted, one thing you can't accuse the lad of is being weak as he's the opposite (imho) and can be over hard sometimes on horses.

JayTrump...Its only human nature to look after your children,i would think a lot less of Aiden OBrien if he didnt try to promote his sons cause. For a great example of a father looking after his son in racing....Willie Mullins.

Just look at the rubbish in the article about Joseph O'Brien in the Racing Post. Typical non-journalism. Never ask the real questions like whether him being given preference of rides caused the Murtagh split or whether he felt guilty about getting rides over more talented jockeys. No we get the usual 'he's a judge of pave etc etc'. I've never seen one jockey live on one ride so much (Robin Hood - Galway). Since than all the Aiden O'Brien devotees spurt out the 'great judge from the front' rubbish.

Why didn't Johnny Ward just go down to Ballydoyle and give the due revernce he his article in person in the style of the €25 girls down the docks.

JP O Brien has definately improved and the old adage may well apply 'riding good horses maketh the jockey'....has landed 2 fair old gambles with some aplomb...weight may deny him a real go at the flat...  if some posts put up here are correct....

Newmarket: Emphasise nothing even vaguely official but can report speculation rising Ryan Moore to join Aidan O'Brien as no.1 jockey, 2012
