Another example of picking on an easy target and I don't know how or why they picked this one. Even the most casual glance at its form would confirm that the horse is very few grades better than useless.

And no doubt we will be treated to the usual nonsense from the coolmore mob tomoro at the Curragh. What price any action will be taken against them

Now now mp!
What about the horse who started 5th favourite for the GC? His wonder jockey did everything in his power to lose to a subsequent tug boat over 2m 4 on his chase debut. Nowt said. And the nice touch on Wednesday by the established gentleman after 3 hack rounds over here. A then the world of difference from Fairyhouse in Nov, to C`ham in March for a trio of pilots! You have to park it all or move on. |

I see - Thanks moneypenny - looked back at those - Kempes @ 1/3 - presumably some punters badly burned on this one.
Looks like you don't need to be a form student .. you need to be psychic to try and figure out what is going on. |

Only noticing this now cb.
Believe it or not I wasn`t talking about his 1/3 defeat. That was just a poor ride. It was his effort at Clonmel before that. Watch the replay on ATR and it`s very easy to see why he started at 6/4 that day. WAC improved for a bit of better ground and a £35k hurdle! As expected. The last one was the 4th best horse in the Neptune who managed to win when his jockey wanted. He also managed to lose at 8/11 when he didn`t want to win! No end to his talents. The 3 pilots refer to its name FL, owner MoL and jock DR. Form is a genuine waste of time. It`s only a minor guide. You`re either lucky or you "know". ![]() |

First Lieutenant was beaten at Fairyhouse because of the false ground that day. This led to the abandonment of three further race meetings there. The horse that day lost his action completely when he hit the false patch of ground,he then began to run on and the last three furlongs looked bad.

A foggy day in Ballyhack and a ready made excuse.
Who knows? |
|
By:
It was foggy the day Solwhit won but clear on the day you refer to.

I`m off to bed so not checking but it was not crystal clear from what I remember. Maybe it was just the usual #hit ATR cameras!

It was run in much darker conditions to the rest of the card wmfb. Possibly mist but definitely harder to see the colours out in the country. It dropped back pretty rapidly as they turn into the back straight. He had exactly half of the race left to make up the ground lost. He halved the deficit long before turning in, but there ended much of the effort.
Anyway, who cares? It`s all done and dusted. |

Giant Strides...I would call your post a perfect summary of the race, possibly where we differ is was the riding of the last three furlongs deliberate or a consequence of the earlier events.

I admit, he didn`t look to have a huge amount in hand but I`m sure he could have been ridden more vigorously.
I was trying to find the thread about it but can`t. I seem to remember he got a deal of grief when he went back to unsaddle. |
