lovethehigherlaw looked very good on his only run at fairyhouse . form well franked at leops on saturday with second finisher caolaneoin winning what looked a decent bumper. w.p said at the time he may not be heading to the festival but i think i read some where since that he may be reconcidering plans for this fellow. may go there yet as you are prob correct neill about the quality of horse he has run so far at least.

I think Allure Of Illusion was the only horse Willie mentioned as a Cheltenham bumper prospect in his recent Talking Trainers feature in The Irish Field. He needs to improve a lot on a narrow win on his only start in a poor Killarney bumper last August to have any chance at Cheltenham.

Cheers lads, a pal asked me and to be honest very little really sprang to mind, I remember him saying in an interview last year that he hadn't been buying as many horses of late. Understandable given the times I suppose.

I'd say if you could pin down which one or two hes sending you'll have a value bet as whatever he sends will go off pretty short if as seems he's sending a small team over

He won the race at Punchy tomorrow with Cousin Vinny, Fiveforthree and Freds Benefit all of whom were impressive and went on to run at Cheltenham (Fiveforthree being unlucky, CV winning and Fred finishing well beat the year all his horses were sick). He had enough in at the five day stage so would take note of the one he does run.

Very impressive in my eyes. Some yoke went off like the clappers, so young Mullins a master of pace didn't want to do the donkey work just let his horse make up the ground and win handy. Wheteher the form is strong is debateable.

I agree Lord Gale was impressive enuff ok but does anyone really believe that his rider is a great judge of pace? he was the best horse nda race ........

Ferdi Murphy on ATR earlier 2day said expect plenty surprises in Cheltenham as lots of horses are going there unexposed compared to other years and will be very fresh due to the harsh winter so the bumper looks a likely canditate for a surprise result. I'd like to know though where is Ferdies own surprise lurking?....Anyone outguess him?

An observation if you will. When young Mullins sets out to make all, they don`t win. I can`t remember the last one anyway. If he drops them in it`s a sign of confidence imo. Watch this one never see another rival!

Samain was very impressive...heres what willie said after
"I'm happy now that he's better going left-handed. He's improving too and that ground must be a bit better than the soft to heavy description because he's a good ground horse. That performance is up to scratch with any bumper horse I've run as it looked a good race. The owners wouldn't be keen on the Cheltenham Bumper so I'll have to see if I can twist their arm."

Cheers JTOTD. Just something that I wish I could have capitalized on yesterday. The first thing I thought of when I saw Mullins set off in front was, "I would love to lay this thing right now". But I was out and not in a position to. Story of my life!

You have a good memory. Made all on Celtic Folklore at Punchestown a few weeks ago and won easily.

Made all on Not for Converting at Galway. Made all on Don't Turn Back for his first win. Made just about all on Dare to Doubt at Downpatrick. Made just about all on Quadrillon when he won his bumper.
The theory does not hold water and tactics are used depending on the horse.
Stop being so sensitive - The comment was made in jest, but the theory does not appear to be correct. It is dangerous to form theories anyway, if you do not watch racing all the time, or the replays.

I was actually referring to this seasons bumper horses. I am aware he has made all in the past. I agree I should watch more but I am trying to watch less with a view to to not watching anymore!

I would b v surprised if he sends more than 1.The champion bumper is v competitive and if u dont have a horse that is psyically strong then there is no point sending 1 just for the point in it.

Permit holder and amateur rider Mikey O'Connor is hoping for suitable ground conditions at Cheltenham next month for his exciting bumper contender Clonbanan Lad.
The six-year-old put himself in line for a crack at the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Festival after trouncing the Willie Mullins-trained Mozoltov at Naas.
Cork-based O'Connor said: "He's come out of the race good.
"I genuinely thought he wouldn't get beat, but Willie said before the race his (Mozoltov) was the best bumper horse he had this year and he was going to Cheltenham with him, so that put me off a little bit.
"He'll probably go to Cheltenham now, though the only thing we have in the back of our heads is that he's so good in soft ground.
"There's no reason to think he won't handle good ground, but if it was quicker than that he wouldn't run. "There'd be no point in risking him when we don't have to. The main aim would be the year after over hurdles. "We don't exactly know how good he is and there are other meetings over here he could run in if the ground was suitable."
Cheltenham to start watering.......Tue 21st Feb 2012, 13:43.
Cheltenham good, good to firm in places Cheltenham's clerk of the course Simon Claisse will starting watering the track as early as Wednesday as he begins to prepare for next month's Festival.
There are only three weeks until the key meeting of the National Hunt season and Prestbury Park is currently quicker underfoot than ideal.
"As expected, warmer weather is on the way and I think it will be 15 or 16C by the end of the week," Claisse said. "We were pretty much frozen from Festival Trials Day up to last Tuesday and we will start watering the course from Wednesday, primarily to active the fertiliser we put on the ground.

Think this could be the worst team of bumper horses Willie has yet to bring to Cheltenham. Pique Sous looks the best of them, a likely runner btw, and can't see that being good enough. Might be famous last words but our dominance is defo loosening on the one race we used to be assured of winning at the festival - Haven't won it since Dunguib!

What does sizing sahara with two stupid smileys next to it mean....suppose its an attempt by BJG to pretend he knows a bit about the horse mentioned.....

PRESUME that this was just 'horse talk' (ie Bullsh1t) in order to build his lad up for a sale
Is Mozoltov any good ?

Mullins had a lot of short priced horses beat around that time.
I was walking into Naas after the 6th race the day Mozolotov got beat. I just asked the man walking down near me did he have a fancy for the bumper. He said he didn't. I said I intended to back Mozolotov who was 4/6 at the time. He told me to be wary as most of Mullins horses who got beat at Thurles were found to be wrong. Sure enough the horse drifted like a barge came under pressure very early and surely didn't run up to form.
I agree with you 100% CMIYC. If they get offered 75k plus they should take it imo.
