I was in a bookies today and struck a conversation over the whole James McCarthy Trappatoni fiasco. I am of the opinion that Trap is making a complete horlicks of the whole saga. The other guy was in Traps camp. I just cannot fathom how any manager of a international or club side does not have the number of his players. Surely Trap should be able to call young McCarthy himself and discuss whole situation. I was shot down by this other guy(opiniated, reasonable clue about football, but complete eejit sometimes too). He claimed that international managers dont have their players numbers? Is this true? obviously Trap does not which is why is making mess of situation and putting into jeopardy McCarthys future Ireland career. I just cannot believe that international managers do not have their players numbers. Anyone have any further light light on this?

mr phantom ..i would say that traps lack of english prevents him calling players and having long chats ...i'd imagine most international managers wold have the players in their panels numbers ...

Well that is true workrider but i am sure if there is a will there is a way, even a text? The guy in bookies claimed that international football is different to club football and managers don't have players numbers. I thought at the time this was uneducated horse manure.

i wouldn't know tbh phantom but i'd take the odds they do have their numbers ..it would make scene for them to have it..

I would guess that the FAI would have the contact details of their players, which Trappotoni would have access to.

Yes of course he would have access and from outside looks like FAI do all the contacting. Kilbane found out via fax he was not in squad against Wales. But manager should have numbers in his phone, id imagine Cappelo does. I cant believe this fool is right in suggesting international managers dont have their players numbers on their phones Trap been the exception

All I know is that if we lose out on a quality player over a stupid communication problem then the FAI and trap need a rocket up their backsides
