If what happened at Dungarven is any indication i'd say no chance. coldest weather forecast for cork and kerry tonight. was wondering bout tralee on another thread, no inspection called but wouldnt be surprised if off

Its my one gripe with the point to points, they call off meetings far too late.
Inspections should be at 8 o clock and let a decision be made then, like on the track. Hopefully anyway we will see some action... |

I was speaking to my dad tonight,he's from Tralee,he said that the point would have been on today, and will more than likely be held tomorrow

How much is it to get into an Irish point lads & can you tell me which courses are the most scenic.I'm not really bothered about the quality of the horses but if I come over I'd like to attend a point in a true rural setting, not some racecourse or somewhere on the edge of a town.I love pointing but at the same time I enjoy good scenery.
I've been to Dingle & loved it.Looking over the bay,not knowing a horse, not understanding the commentator but it was still a great weekend. Thanks. |

you could head to kinsale at end of may/start of june. Nice atmosphere and good grub on offer. Laois Stradbally is a good one too. One more suggestion is to head to Athlacca in Limerick, again a good atmosphere and theres a cross country banks race there which is usually a great spectacle. If you go to www.p2p.ie you can look at the fixture list pick a couple out. When the season gathers pace you may find a Saturday and Sunday to go to 2 points. Enjoy

I've been on your road today Sedgefield to Kelso, wish I'd stopped at home 6 out of 7 jollies so the pockets a bit lighter. Still a day at a point is different class to standing in those cattle pens they call race course enclosures. |

Pay a trip over in September/October time Allpoints - it's what I'm planning on doing this year.
No UK pointing and it's an early enough start to the Irish season with plenty of meetings. |

was at punchestown myself ....its some drive eh ......did you notice the treehouse about 17 miles from the course ....fantastic ... next time i'm over will try and find out who lives there .....was there a p2p at kelso racecourse ....? |
|
By:
Yes I know the tree house you mean,if I remember I'll ask who lives there.
As for the point course at Kelso,it's at the opposite end of the town. It's only a poor course, you wouldn't run a decent young horse there. It's left handed with a couple of hard lefts with quite a steep hill to go up & a long down hill stretch which is also on the turn. It's the ideal spot to take a horse to if you're cheating as they go behind a wood & very few people bother going up that way.Rather strange how many horses go behind that hill & don't come out,in fact some actually come out with a rug on.Strange how the connections know when & where the horse is going to get tired so they can be ready with the rug. They must be good horsemen if they can gauge it that well. |
