firstly, i stand to be slightly corrected. possibly. i believe 4-6 5-4 to be the probable odds in tomorrow's 2 horse race. fair enough. but the tote take out 127% odd per race or thereabouts. regardless if there are 2 or 30 runners. so we could be looking at the tote being, say 1-2 and 4-6!!!!! obviously something has to be done. this cannot be allowed surely? too many idiots "in charge" of racing i'm afraid.
just said i'd reply as i was feeling sorry you got no responce mate ...... while you've obviously breaking your balls on that 2 horse race i've been tackling something a little harder.... if you're interested i might put it up on here tomorrow .....i noticed something that should pay off tomorrow .... night now pro punter ......

On the general point of the Tote,I think the time has long come for an overhaul of how its run . On track it is quite obvious it is overstaffed . Probably the same behind the scenes . As far as I know for meetings all over the country the track staff travel from Dublin with all its associated costs. I would suggest something along the lines of the Greyhound Racing Tote operation where staff at the tracks are recruited locally to cut down costs. Hopefully a new Government may instigate a review as the Tote only only appears to serve the interests of those working in the Tote. The cut being taken ensures no serious punter would bet with the Tote.

Tote staff are now sourced locally with each region having its own pool of staff. Problem with this is it leaves the toet with a limited number of properly trained personel who have great difficulty in processing the more complex accumalater type bets from my experience. No doubt the value with the tote has gone out the window and I see them leaning towards the use of bet jets to cut down on staff in future. One thing I found interesting last year from looking at aggragate figures for the race meetings was how well the western tracks faired out compared to the rest of the country, maybe less shrewd punters their who seem to think beting with the bookies is a 'dangerous'game!
