Race 1) Plan A.(NB) Gordon Elliott has 5 in here but the one to concentrate on is Builder Liam Mulryan's animal. This should be a canter for him if he can reapeat his Cheltenham form when 3rd to Sam Winner and new Triumph fav Grandouet.

Race 2) Mourad.(Nap) W P always targets this meeting with his big guns. This one won a similar race at short odd at Leop over xmas beating Powerstation who opposes again.

Race 3)Might Be Magic. Local trainer Tom Foley could have the winning of this. Part of a treble for young Townend on New Year's Day at Fairyhouse this one had Benash 2 lengths behind with 10 lengths back to the rest. Benash murdered the opposition next time out at Naas.

Race 4) Whinstone Boy. Taking a chance that this lottery can be taken by last year's winning combination who landed a massive gamble that day.

Race 5) Tharawaat. Davy missed a winning ride in Thurles todaybut PC would be a good substitute. Got his confidence back last day. The rest have a lot of questions to answer.

Race 6) Gaelic Grounds. Another local success is possible here. This one was fancied for a similar race in Gowran back in November. A mistake at the 3rd last knocked the stuffing out of him. Fahy form could be a concern.

Race 7) Quaquo De Flotte.(Treble) Willie can send Fav punters home on a successful note as he tries to bring up a 4th succesive winning fav in this race.

Tharawat in the novice chase looks best bet if his jumping holds up ... Can be a little bit sketchy ... 2 mile 4 around Gowran tomorrow will take plenty of getting which won t be a problem as he stayed on well the last day winning over 2 m 4 in down Royal and over 2 m 6 in punchestown when he chased home Greatjohnbrowne after clouting the second last ... Kakagh and Quadrillion ran poorly the last day and the Hurl was well beaten when he fell at Limerick ...

A marvellous crowd turned up for Gowran's flagship meeting of the year.
A cold day 3 degrees only.

Race 1) Plan A (7/4f). Cantered in under cheeky Carberry

Race 2) Mourad (4/9f) Hosed up as expected.

Race 3) Whodoyouthink (8/1) No hoper, imo but money arrived and under a strong ride from Paddy Flood just outstayed the jolly Might Be Magic.

Race 4) Siegemaster (16/1) 3rd last year under a poer packed Davy ride beat the well backed W P The Midnight Club. Alpha Ridge the 9/2 f went off at a wsuicidal pace and did well to get 4th.

Race 5) The Hurl (7/2) Wins or falls and made all under a power packed ride from Slippers. The jolly Tharawaat is a thief and dogged it.

Race 6) Tiernan's Terror (8/1) Well tipped up here and on the main forum made all. Surprise jolly Colls Corner 12/1 to 5/1 was up there but under the cosh before they straightened up and brought up the rear.

Race 7) Letter Of Credit (10/1) A very open bumper where nothing was really backed  to the exclusion of the rest. The race was wide open right to the end where Mikey Fogarty the new kid on the block foiled local horse Black Benny.

Was a lovely day alright soapp but crowd was well down on previous years i thought. Took advantage of the bogof offer on the tote Daily double and managed to catch the two winners in one of them.. Had Plan A in the first and Alpha ridge ew antepost at 12/1 so had a good day. Thought Mourad and Plan A were very impressive.

ita all about opinions lads but to say plan a was impressive is laughable;carberyy was sovelling along quite a way out[look at the replay]and also was unlucky to get out;then paul being paul tried to make it look as tho he won on the snaff;improving horse no doubt but i have to laugh when it was called impressive;jmo

Not impressive, but sure to learn from it and certainly full of potential.

He was caught in a pocket and looked in trouble briefly but the horse responded in a matter of strides when it got out and it won doing handstands in the end. Looks a live one for the Fred Winter to me
