WR, he kept making mistakes. Even in the Gold Cup he clobbered one.
I know Timmy Hyde used ride him. I can't remember who trained him. |

Right on both contents, not surprised, fell at the top of the hill in the Cheltenham Gold Cup think it was 1970.
If ye can watch races again could ye both give me your opinion on the Hunters Chase run at Thurles today.I have been watching Boxer Georg for a while,he is a half brother to Bother Na,appears to dislike heavy ground, gets outpaced in his races and then stays on to some effect,i think there is a handicap to be won on good ground, would like to hear your thoughts. |

Edward O'Grady trained him. He was going quite well when he fell in the 1970 Gold Cup.Think he was about 7/4 fav. L'escargot went on to win his first gold cup at 33/1 for Dan Moore ridden by his son in law Tommy Carberry and owned by Raymond Guest who was American ambassador to Ireland. He also owned Sir Ivor. L'escargot won the following years Gold Cup at 7/2.
I think there was another Irish horse placed that year French Tan trained by Archie Watson from Northern Ireland |

Sorry it was Willie O'Grady who trained him, Eddie took over the licence in 1972. Willie used have another good horse called Smooth dealer, won the Thestyes
