Drumbaloo expected to need hurdles debut
BY DAVID JENNINGS 11:15AM 30 DEC 2010 ONE of the highlights of Thursday's card is the hurdling debut of Drumbaloo, who returns to action in the I.N.H Stallion Owners European Breeders' Fund Maiden Hurdle, but his trainer Jimmy Lambe has voiced concerns about the fitness of last year's prolific bumper scorer. Drumbaloo has not been seen since finishing well down the field in the Cheltenham Bumper last March but recorded a hat-trick of successes prior to that and is regarded as one of the most promising recruits to hurdling this season. However, Lambe is not expecting fireworks on his first start for nine months and stressed that he will come on for the run. "He seems in good shape but his preparation has been a bit stop-start with the way the weather has been. That's not ideal and I would say he is probably about 85 per cent fit," Lambe said. "The ideal scenario would be to win today and then we'd know we have a right one as he's not fully fit. But if he finished second or third I would be delighted as he will come on a ton for the run. "He had two hard races at Down Royal and Navan before Cheltenham and he was probably a bit over the top going into that race. I hope he still retains all of his ability and we will certainly know more after today," he added. ![]() |

As i said on horse racing forum, i think 85% would suffice. The betting suggests he's 25% fit

I'd say Willie is kicking himself for running MDH again so soon, esp after he said he wouldn't run a few days ago.
I still maintain that he was a beaten horse when he fell the last day - def think that now. Think i'll have some more 16s Jessie's Dream (with Lads). Been a weird few weeks, shoulda' made a few quid, instead its been gash. |

Good stuff Norn with the Nap. Nice to see Eddie O'Connell get back among the winners.
So so crowd at the Leop. Results good for the punters overall. They finished nicely. Robbie Mc is riding like a man inspired. Only his brother prevented him from racking up a hat-trick. You went close in the last with Felix Younger. I was on him each way. Connections put me wide that he would go close. I think it was a very slow run bumper so the form will probably go out the window. |
