Sadly St. Stephen's Day has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday 30th due to snow on the track and adverse weather conditions - further update and plan due shortly

They should have got robo up to the track. He comes out with a lot of hot air, surely  he could clear the track by St. Stephens Day.

Just about to post the same. Snowing as bad as ever now. A good call by Leop. It will thaw and it will give time for proper rescheduling

Snow stopped almost as quickly as it started, thank God... now Mr Claus, a clear run of weather between now and 27th with a bit of heat please. Cheers.

Surely if the worst comes to the worst some of the minor races should be rescheduled for the 3rd January. There is no racing scheduled for the metropolitan area that day. A lot of people don't go back to work till the 4th January.

I tried to post this on the contingency plans topic but it woulldn't allow it.

SF, yep still ankle deep in the garden and I am like you 2 miles out the road.

It is minus 5 in Limerick at the moment. Good chance Day 2 is off there too.

Agree Kriskin, I am afraid that one of the best meetings of the year will now not happen at all. Real shame

All, nobody more of a prophet of doom than me about Leopardstown all along. I live out here and could see with my own two eyes the amount of Snow were had here and again last night would you believe.

However,
It has been a beautiful day, has not snowed since 2 AM and there was a decent thaw while the sun was out.
The Sky is clear now and so far it has not gotten any where near as cold as it has other nights so we are entitled to think the Snow is finished.
Thus all we need is a thaw and I mentioned in another thread when the thaw started the last time it only took 36 hours.

Go away and enjoy your Christmas and I assure you the outlook will be better St. Stephens day.

We can then look forward to 2 (maybe 3) of the best days racing in many a long year at Leopardstown

It must have been a lot warmer out where you were.

It got to 1 degree in the centre of Dublin and the thaw was absolutely minimal, if indeed there was any.

No question it was a beautiful day in the Burbs today. One thing I noticed more than ever this cold spell was how localised. I work in Swords and had to endure slagging everyday when getting in to the office at 10:30 and taking off again at 16:00 to ensure I got home before 20:00.
They got a taste of their own medicine on Thursday when they were stuck in the car park for 3 hours as they were snowed in (the same snowfall that closed Dublin Airport all yesterday)

A diffence of 5 miles can make a huge difference in climate at the moment. Tonight will tell all. If it has not improved by this time tomorrow then there will be no racing.
I say it will and there will

3/1 on BF racing to go ahead on 28th lustrumm. No doubt you'll take it!!
By:

When: 24 Dec 10 23:16
Just in from the Pub observ. would have certainly taken the 3/1. I certainly will take it if it comes up again.
The thaw has started but as others said it will be slower this time intitially as temperatures are lowish. Never went below 0 tonight on my car thermomentor though and in my garden you can hear the drip drip of the snow melting. lovely night and the sun will be out again tomorrow.
There is a good chance they will race on the Tuesday and certain on Wednesday IMO.

Thats it from me. I'll update early on the 26th.

While its thawing slowly, the course is still covered with 5 inches of snow.Tuesday has to be a big outsider in my opinion,as the ground is still frozen, and it hasnt really rained yet.Hope im wrong.

When: 26 Dec 10 23:08
Correct Hammy. I'd back Wednesday at any price to be on to be honest. I run around the track most days and it is thawing away now. Tuesday they would have their chances but the Snow won't be all gone tomorrow by the 8 AM inspection so I'd say they will defer.
If pressured they might just think like Soapp said on the other thread and think the ground will only last 2 days and wait til Wednesday.
In many ways I'd nearly prefer to wait for Wednesday and enjoy 2 of the great days racing with almost every race a graded race

You are welcome guys. All the doomsayers would do well to listen to Uncle Lusty. For those down south take it the meeting will be on tomorrow.
The ground will be heavy but it is alright.
If it was a run of the mill they would be wondering but this is the Christams festival. Hammy's rain arrived last night and there is not a drop of snow left. It is a grand day now. Good drying wind and not raining with the sky bright and a few clouds.
Start cleaning the Binocs boys it is time for action

Meeting not given the go ahead this morning due to fears about waterlogging and it has been raining consistently now for the last 4hours. While I admire your optimisim and hope your assertions about racing taking place are right there must be some concern
