Lads how much can a punter get on a horse in Ireland at morning prices? Say a 14/1 - 16/1 shot where less than a hundred quid would be taking out over a grand?

Anyone work in bookies and know whats the max a firm will take before ringing head office? I know it's difficult to get very much on on internet with most firms but they have a set amount they are prepared to take on each runner.

Start at 10am in an area with loads of betting shops preferably a city, make sure you're wearing Nike's and preferably don't bet each way hth.
Report Rocketfingers December 16, 2010 9:03 PM GMT
Depends on who you are really but i would imagine if you sat down and thought about it you would get a decent wedge on imo.
Report kido December 16, 2010 9:36 PM GMT

Report rule4 will apply December 18, 2010 11:53 AM GMT
most firms will lay you to lose 1000 give or take in the h'caps without ringing up etc, 500 in bumpers, maidens etc, thats what i've found, i stand corrected. hth
Report crouchingtiger1 December 18, 2010 1:43 PM GMT
just dont take the price, if you bet at SP you'll get a lot more on...they're never really much shorter anyway
Report dundalk1977 December 18, 2010 7:50 PM GMT
vantastic54,one indipendant will take a monkey on a horse up to 4 or 5/1 no questions once they know you and you are a regular.Often seen 1000 being accepted on shorties,no probs to get a 100 at 14 or 16/1 at emp.Anyone else on here from dundalk will know the bookies in question.
Report robo December 18, 2010 8:00 PM GMT
100 ew at 14/1,are ye having a laugh, the parish priest would lay that bet,I like when people are saying you can back a horse to win less than a monkey without them ringing up,some of these firms have over 100 shops,so that means they are maybe laying 30 cent per shop on a 14/1 chance
Report slickster December 18, 2010 8:01 PM GMT
once my chopper is in good working order i can cover 10 shops in half an hour. no worries getting on...
