Balmont Mast 2.30 Dundalk

Went straight into my notebook last time after the race - got an absolutely laughable ride

Held up in rear, there was nothing travelling better coming into the straight

Went to pull out to get a run, went most of the way out and then decided to go back towards the inside

Got chopped and snatched up when going between 2 horses in the last furlong

Was never touched with the whip and got a bare hands and heels hide

Will have no where to hide in a 6 runner race today, 2 favourites look vunerable and i have had some 12/1 e/w ta bookies

Knights Templar E/W is a front runner who is a course winner. He is running off his winning mark, carries bottom weight with a 10lb claimer on board, he ran well lto and could sneak it. He will be threading water in the last furlong hope he hangs on.Cool

He should return his riding fee for that particularly inept display

A nice double for young Joseph keeps him very mcuh in the mix.
O'Brien must think a lot of Sing Softly who was pulled out late on Saturday as young Joseph was 4lb overweight and wasn't allowed to ride it. O@Brien has now appealed that decision. This means that Young Joseph can ride it on Friday as the appeal won't be heard for some time. She must be a machine as they seem so confident of it winning despite being 4 lb overweight.
That would leave only one in it and no doubt the weight ( no pun intended!) of Coolmore and Ballydoyle ought to get young Joseph a share of the title.
This would be well deserved as young Joseph will no doubt be too heavy in future years to fight it out for titles.

Aidan O'Brien's behaviour over the past few weeks has been disgraceful.

It will be a travesty if a lad that should not have even been allowed to compete in the title race until the rules were changed to accommodate him, ends up winning it as a result of the might and influence over this crew. The appeals have become sickening and this latest appeal to the 4lb rise sums up everything that is wrong with all things Ballydoyle.

He`s trying to win his son the apprentice title. I don`t see any problem with giving him every assistance he can be it appeals or rides. Anyone with a son/daughter in a similar position would do the exact same. I don`t think he needs to apologize for it.
However, I don`t concur with soapp assertion that it would be well deserved. He`s been given every opportunity possible by one of the biggest stables in the world let alone the country!
May the best boy win!

"Champion trainer Aidan O’Brien has lodged an appeal with the Turf Club’s Appeals and Referrals Committee against the decision of the Dundalk stewards last Saturday not to allow his son Joseph carry 4lb overweight in a race.

The filly Sing Softly was withdrawn from a race after the stewards at Dundalk decided no exceptional circumstances had been offered by the jockey or the trainer’s representative at the track to allow O’Brien ride.

Once a rider is set to carry more than 3lb overweight, permission has to be sought from the stewards to allow that jockey ride. In order to do so, “very exceptional circumstances” have to be presented and O’Brien’s representative, Ciarán Murphy, argued that Sing Softy is a tricky filly to manage and Joseph O’Brien was used to riding her at home on a daily basis."

So tricky is Sing Softly a ride that she had to be ridden by JPM on her first start at Dundalk rather than the poor young lad who rides her at home every single day.
The outcome of this appeal will tell a lot about who runs racing in Ireland...
