Shocking stuff, how can there be such a difference, UK is a more dangerous country as well bigger risk. I suppose Gant007 won't answer this but somebody needs to and tell the Irish public why this is?

I heard recently that a two star private in the Irish army earns more than a sergeant in the UK army.
Report GANT007 December 7, 2010 3:52 PM GMT
Can you tell me 1 job in this country that pays less than the uk.

Garda €25745
Constable £23259

Both above figures are entry level figures.

Is the uk...a country of 65million more dangerous than here.......the movies reckon it is.

I don't know where Gant is getting his figures from but there not even close. Garda's fully trained start at way more Gant it's between 55-60k that take hoime pay of a Garda these figures are easily available to the public.

But this is how they make up their pay, this pushes their pay way way above that, it's jobs for the boys and this needs to end. I have a great time for the boys in blue but stop taking the you know what out of the people of this country.

Gardai get 57 different kinds of expenses along with their salary...now me; all I get extra is about 57 extra beans in my cans of "Heinz's !

Report GANT007 December 7, 2010 5:14 PM GMT
Rocketfingers.......a fully trained Garda starts at 55/60k....so a person passing out of templemore is on that........I will put up the links for you if you tell me where you got the double the salary information.

Rocketfingers....the exams are open to the public so your jobs for the boys is untrue as usual.

You have no time for the Gardai for whatever reason....thats your own business and your previous post prove that.

I don't know about 57 different expenses - I'm sure they all don't get 57 each..............Well done on the extra beans it shows with some of the sh^t you come out with.

Not at all Gant as i mentioned above i actually have great time for them, but i can't understadn the amount of money they take home and the amount of expenses they receive. Compare it with our neighbours the UK where in 2009 £49,221-£51,246 (Chief Inspector) and young lads with limited experience are on more than that, surely you must see that as a sad reflection on this country where salaries are basically bulked up with 57 kinds of expenses.

I love the Gardai i am just stading up for the country.

There was a few words back and forth from the anti govt side (the people) and the Pro Govt Gardas but everything went peacefully i even seen some Gardas clap the protesters away, maybe some have a conscious after all?

Gant i recognise the Gardai alright hard not to recognise a bunch of apes in a blue uniform shuffling about our country with no talent other than they played for their village a few times.

The above sums you up.......take a look at the pay scales and get the facts.

Gardai straight out of templemore do not start on 50-60k pr year, It would take about 30 years service for an ordinary Garda to reach that level.

Fantasy figures New starting Garda are subject to a 10% cut starting anyway, and that starting figure is closer to 25k then 55k.

@Gant nobody is arguing with the starting out basic salary it's the 57 forms of expenses that bump up every members salary. I hope this has cleared it up, the salary is right the expenses mockery is not.

Report neill d December 8, 2010 10:27 AM GMT
Irish welfare rates are a lot higher, even taking into account the cost of living. They are losing around a tenner a week.

Think the GRA website sheds a lot of light on the allowances/expenses[;)]
