Navan hasn't bit the dust on that date yet, but it is probably very unlikely to take place anyhow.

I haven't visited the new Dundalk. Maybe Saturday will be the day.

Well I remember travelling to the old Dundalk and enjoying the magnificent Cooley Mountains in the background.

The nosh used be upstairs in those days.

Used love the old Dundalk, went there as a school kid in the sixties the Micky MCArdle Chase was one of the highlights, they used have a two day meeting  to coincide with the Maytime festival, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Sweet Afton Hunter Chase, remember seeing Willie Rooney ride,he looked ancient and of course his two daughters, Anne Ferris and Rosemary Rooney.
Bunny Cox the local trainer would supply a winner or two, he was usually found holding court in a snug bar up some stairs overlooking the parade ring, another trainer from that era was Dick Hoey from Julianstown, saw Gail Borden win for him also Blue Blazes and Autumn Wonder owned by Jimmy Mc****ss a cattle dealer from Drogheda, he was also a seventh son of a seventh son and had some gift for curing cattle.

Snowing all morning in Louth and none of the minor roads have been gritter so unless you are coming a motorway route its going to be v hard to get to it,

Johnny Murtagh seems to have given up the ghost to win the championship even though he is currently second, six behind. No booked rides over the two days. Pat Smullen in his column in the Indo said today he only had one winner during the month of November. Basically as Weld has wound down.
So Murtagh with four meetings to go certainly wasn't out of it.
Berry could sneak in through the back door if he got lucky. How ironic that would be.

SOAPP THINK BERRY DEFF GOT CHANCE  /YES M8 REPLIED
Report 3winnersandasecond December 4, 2010 10:14 AM GMT
No irony Soapp, JPM probably feels he owes Berry after nicking his job. Besides I say he feels like a long break before next season kicks off.
Doubt if he'd be too upset if Ballydoyle lose out on the two jockeys championships....
Report thatsurcoco December 4, 2010 11:34 AM GMT
inspection at midday to see if racing goes ahead
