Hello my Irish friends, hopefully some of you could help me out regarding next years Punchestown Festival.

A friend and I are planning to head over for to the Emerald Isle on Monday 2nd May and return back on Sunday 8th May. We aim to go to everyday of the Punchestown Festival as well as The Curragh on the Monday and Leopardstown on the Sunday.

So, we will require 6 nights accommodation, checking in Monday and checking out Sunday. However, i'm not sure where will be best to stay for these 6 nights and this is where I could do with some help/suggestions. Looking at map, Dublin is a bit further away than I thought and guess it would be an expensive taxi journey to and from the course each day unless there is another form of transport like bus or train?

I'm sure ive heard before that Naas would be a good place to stay, but after looking on a few hotel sites such as booking.com and laterooms I can only see a couple of hotels for Naas, but i'm not sure there what i'm after, so wondered if any fellow forumnites have any suggestions? I know its miles off, but if its anything like Cheltenham, its better to move quickly. A small 2 bed apartment for the week would be ideal, but a twin room would also be ok.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

They run buses from O Connell Street for the festival as far as i know. You could stay somewhere like Naas which would be closer but i'd imagine the nightlife is nowhere near as good as Dublin city centre

Cheers SatelliteFlight. Ive been to Dublin once before and remember getting a race bus to Navan and back. Ive emailed Punchestown Racecourse to see if they can confirm a bus runs to and from Dublin to the course throughout the Festival. If this is the case I will probably stay in Dublin and I hope to visit Shelbourne Park again - ive never seen a Greyhound Stadium like it this side of the Irish Sea.

If you plan heading Shelbourne i'd say go the Saturday night, the Puppy Oaks Final is usually on that weekend as well as the Hegarty 600 semi finals

Its a great game so many twists and turns, looked like the Colts have no chance on the handicap for most of the game but won by the minimum on the h'cap and the Eagles didn't look like covering until Eli fumbled Laugh

Yeah interested to see what Willie runs in the Royal Bond and Drinmore, im all over Zaidpour for the Neptune Novices Hurdle so really hoping they go that route and the Hattons Grace looks like being a brilliant race Grin

According to BusEireann, their racecourse service was cancelled last month, so Dublin not looking as good an option now.

By Bus: During the 5-day Festival a special bus is available from Busaras in Dublin city centre (Store Street). For other meetings Bus Eireann and private bus services provide a regular service to Naas
