Fianna Fail are a great party and Brian Cowen and Brian Lenahen are great leaders. Bertie Ahern and Charlie McCreevy are the greatest things that ever happened to this country. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT ME TO SAY BETFAIR?

Vasco i was not trying to have a go at people on the dole as i know there are a lot as you say have worked hard all their lives and circumstances have led them to having to go on welfare. I was really just trying to point out that if they do what was printed in the independent today a lot wouyld just be as well off to stay on the dole rather than work for €7.65 an hour
seen as i can't post on the other thread about the minimum wage, what a facking joke [>o] |

Don't think of the Dole as simply a welfare handout but as social insurance as well. We pay a high high rate sure but it keeps the unemployed reasonably happy and crime down.
Compare this to the UK where their £60 is great untill you consider their crime rates and social disorder. By and large many places in the UK are not nice places to live. By and large Ireland is still a decent place to live, though the factor is decreasing. Personally I'm happy to have the dole high and have a percentage of my income going to keeping it high. I might not have as much disposable income as if I lived in the UK but I can walk home from the city centre without fear and I know my neighbours. Biggest problem with the Dole is we can't afford it and prices in Ireland are still stupidly high. |
