he was commenting on punchestown last year and he was really the best i ever heard from a jockey.when u listen to fitz, pitman, cochrane or (shudder to say it)carson it really was top class.so insightful, and not afraid to rule out one for whatever reason.hes sorta like roy keane.doesnt suffer fools gladly or wafflers.i met him a few times and found him fine,a bit serious but we all have our personalitys.he will never jump on the thommo merry go round of cliches and sound bites and fair dues to him.

He couldn't be bothered on Saturday morning - so he should've just stayed in bed. Thought Nick Luck handled a diffcult situation well and basically cut short the interview.
|

By:
Yes he was very good at punchestown, but on saturday morning he was asked 3 very simple questions by nick luck, not his biggest fan but def not in thommos league. His replies to the questions were downright rude and ignorant, if he was in such bad form, why do the interview? He doesnt HAVE to.But like you say fair dues to him....

Ruby is abrupt but when he does talk he is worth listening to. I thought he was very forward about what he thought of Sam Winner on RUK, he even told Mcnae to cover him when Mc nae was rushing onto the horse later in the card. Pity I didn't back him.
He's not a fluent talker, so what. Plenty of talkers out there that talk an awful barrel of ****. I didn't actually see the Morning Line. |

@kavvie
He doesn't suffer wafflers? He'll never jump on the merry go round of cliches and sound bites? Right. What about that 'autobiography' in the window at Easons? |
|
By:
Not a fluent talker? Are u for real.
|
|
By:
I mean fluent in talking **** terms. He's to the point.

I'm reading "Ruby, The Autobiography". Its a good read. He talks openly in it about horses, people, and about his feelings. I didn't see him on the Morning Line so can't judge. It can't be easy having a broken leg. He seems to have many breaks. I'm wondering does he have brittle bones.
My preference is flat racing. I never go to jumps meetings. It cost €14.74, but in a bookshop fifty yards away it was €19.99. |

had a look at it in easons today it cost 16 99 .

Does he really 'talk openly' about the horses he's ridden, Kincsem?
How many non-triers are listed in the index? |

blackwater,he wrote or co wrote a very insightful book and its a good read.talks a lot of sense.and there is no thommo type stuff in it.and he speaks about most of the good horses he has ridden and individual races etc.you mention non triers.has any racing book ever gave a good account of non triers etc?!!?..its the nature of racing.and any one who has an idea of the game knows it.i backed many a horse that either didnt run up to its mark, wasnt fit, wasnt suited by the course/conditions etc.look at the aussies tonite !!!

By:
Ruby has a wealth of knowledge and probably knows more about the game than most out there. But he was really smart with Nick Luck on the Morning Line and that's the one thing a lot of people don't like about him.

VERY FEW REAL GOOD TOPICS LIKE SURELY WITH ALL THE GOOD JUDGES ON IRISH FORUM ITS ABOUT TRYING GET WINNERS AN NOT CONSTANTLY HAVING A DIG AT ONE THE BEST EVER AND BELIEVE ME I CANT NEVER GET RUBY RIGHT AS VERY UNLUCKY FOR ME WHEN HE CARRYS MY DOSH . He was a count to Nick Luck end of!! Yes he is very knowledgeable and worth listening too but if he did not want to give that interview on Saturday morning he should of said so and stayed in bed and not come on and made himself look like a prat

great jockey, hugely insightful when commentating...found him arrogant in the extreme on the few occasions I met him |
