SHAMED shock jock Neil Prendeville is set to reveal all in a massive PR blitz -- before he is interviewed by gardai.
The radio presenter and City Channel host (49) has gone to ground since reports emerged that he carried out a lewd act on himself in front of fellow travellers on an Aer Lingus flight. The Herald can reveal that the presenter has been holed up at the Co Wicklow home of his solicitor, Gerald Kean. Mr Prendeville, along with his wife Paula Lenihan and their two children aged 14 and 16, abruptly left their Douglas, Cork, home during the week, and have been keeping a low profile at Mr Kean's pad. Mr Prendeville carried out a sex act on himself during a trip from London to Cork on October 19 last, using a copy of Cara, the Aer Lingus in-fight magazine, to cover himself. He claimed he was under the influence of a cocktail of alcohol and painkillers at the time. Because exposing and attempting to masturbate on a plane is a not an arrestable offence, the broadcaster has been asked to present himself to Gardai in order to help complete their investigation. He may eventually be charged with indecency. The Herald understands that the disgraced DJ -- who has an annual salary of €150,000 -- is now set to reveal all in three interviews, which will be published tomorrow. Pictures Assisted by a journalist on a British newspaper, Mr Prendeville yesterday staged a 'media summit' at a Dublin hotel, giving interviews and pictures to three downmarket Sunday tabloids, it is understood. A well-placed source said Mr Prendeville spent two hours yesterday taking part in tightly controlled interviews with three Sunday newspapers. Between 2pm to 4pm yesterday he met various journalists and photographers at a Castleknock hotel, where the select members of the media were all granted a supervised interview. Mr Prendeville is clearly pre-empting the possibility of facing any additional charges and has recruited the services of a well-known Cork-based criminal lawyer, in addition to Mr Kean's representation. Meanwhile two of Mr Prendeville's fellow passengers have given statements to the garda. Journalist Niamh Hennessy and hotelier Seamus Heaney were seated to his left and right and it is believed that gardai are planning on speaking to at least eight more witnesses. Mr Prendeville is now on indefinite leave from his job. cmcbride@herald.ie |

First of all I can speak from personal experience that too much Nurofen Plus when mixed with other drugs can send you off your rocker.
I am asthmatic and use inhalers etc. Many years ago I too 2 Nurofen + tabs and after taking a few puffs of my inhaler went off my rocker. However I remember all I did and although Prenderville was unable to help himself I'd fancy he remembers what happened well. It just brought out the naughty side in him. And therein lies the real issue. The moral Guardian of everything in the South is the great Neil P and if it was anyone else in the South of Ireland that carried on like that he would not rest until their head was on a platter. He can see this himself which is why he wheeled out the big gun (Gerald Kean) straight away. however Max Clifford also saw through it and it was bad luck for the Prenners team that Pat Kenny wheeeled Clifford out last week straight off the bat. Prenners cant have it everyway |

Oh yeah and that Ryanair Ad was top class. Top class despite the people on Joe Duffy claiming othewrwise.

THE solicitor of Neil Prendeville is outraged at suggestions that his version of events differs from that of the shamed DJ.
Gerald Kean has rejected an allegation that there were discrepancies between the story recalled by Mr Prendeville and statements he made during a radio interview. The shock jock has maintained that he doesn't remember anything from the evening that he carried out a lewd act on an Aer Lingus flight. But in an interview, Mr Kean had outlined how his client had been drinking at a restaurant in London before consuming more alcohol at Heathrow Airport. One newspaper reported that this explanation suggested that their stories differed significantly. However, Mr Kean told the Herald today that he has been able to piece the sequence of events together through his own investigations. "I said he certainly had a drink, maybe two [at the airport]. "I never said that Neil remembered it but I know because a person who bought him a drink at the airport told me," said the solicitor. "There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this guy lost his memory. If he did remember anything, the first person Neil would have rang would have been me." Mr Kean added: "He flew out on holidays with Aer Lingus three days later. Nobody would have done that if they remembered what happened." A garda investigation into the incident is advancing and officers have already spoken to the two passengers who were sitting either side of the father-of-two. hnews@herald.ie |

Cork radio presenter Neil Prendeville will remain off airwaves for the foreseeable future, bosses at station 96FM confirmed today.
The station broke its silence on the matter, saying there had been huge public interest in the future of Mr Prendeville following an incident last month when he exposed himself and masturbated on a flight from London to Cork. 96FM chief executive Kieran McGeary said the star would not be back on the air until investigations by gardaí had been fully completed. Mr Prendeville, left, is not expected to return until at least the New Year. “This step allows both the station and the gardaí to complete their investigations into the matter. I think it is also important that there’s time for Neil and his family to deal with the situation,” said Mr McGeary. He said that people had expressed both concern about what had happened and support for Mr Prendeville since the incident was revealed last month. “There’s been an extraordinary amount of public interest in this matter and the station has heard from people expressing concern but it is fair to say we have also had significant support from the public for ourselves and Neil and we are very grateful for all the feedback,” added Mr McGeary. After the incident, the presenter said he had taken a toxicology test to prove that he was not using drugs and said he was seeking counselling to help guide his children through the turmoil. He claimed he didn’t remember anything about the incident on the flight after he had mixed alcohol and painkillers. Celebrity solicitor Gerald Kean, who is representing Mr Prendeville, said he had no comment to make on the situation today. Mr McGeary said the radio station would not be making a further comment on the matter before the New Year. A garda spokesman said today their investigation into the incident was continuing |
