Report workrider October 30, 2010 10:09 AM BST
another of interest to me is the bull hayes if taking to hurdling he would be different class .
Report downallstar October 30, 2010 10:13 AM BST
Not imo workrider, he jumped perfectly the last day, even the one where he came down, just nuckled a few strides after jumping it, was an exhibition to that point. He just hasn't lived up to the Lucky part of his name.

A lot of decent judges here tipping up White Star Line 5.15 .... Have watched the re run of his race the last day with First Lieutenent a few times  and although they pulled a good bit ahead of the third i have a suspicion that White Star Line wouldn t go by and lugged in a bit ??????
Report workrider October 30, 2010 11:32 AM BST
i'm glad i'm heading down , think its one of those days were paddock inspection is vital . wont be making any bets till i've given them the once over .
Report downallstar October 30, 2010 11:41 AM BST
dinglemick - White Star Line has only had the two starts, both over hurdles, ran very well in a good race at Punchestown, then ran against a fit and very good horse in First Lieutenent. He was just green and made a balls of the last. The step back into a bumper will do him no harm imo. Can't believe powers went 100/30!
Report workrider October 30, 2010 11:58 AM BST
having said all that just had £ 50 on shinrock @ 6.0 on here , coulden't let that sort of price pass me by , will increase my bet if i like the look of him in paddock .

That switch cost Lucky William that race

Maybe if the jockey kept riding he would have won
Report downallstar October 30, 2010 4:02 PM BST
Think it was the switch to the LHS of Loup DS, it allowed Kakagh up the rail. LW was too wide of Kakagh to react.

Surely if workrider was gauging the fitness of Shinrock Paddy, he did not back him?

He looked huge in the paddock.

I just saw that he backed him before he left.

Well done workrider.

in all fairness das, she was a little unlucky , maybe she should have got off the rail earlier , but she was bumped and banged for nearly 2 furs by the gigginstown horse .

Ah the lads are on about the fav - didn't see much wrong tbh, but Katie came 10 wide round the hometurn and raced out of camera shot for the entire straight.

She had the whole straight to go past if good enough.
Report Princesse D'Anjou October 30, 2010 5:45 PM BST
Might have been good enough but for giving away stacks of ground coming wide up the straight.

Not the end of the world though Happy
Report Berbatov6 October 30, 2010 5:52 PM BST
You are obviously not very clued up on irish racing. Coming down the outisde on Naas is no disadvantage.
Report Princesse D'Anjou October 30, 2010 6:04 PM BST
Giving away 10 lengths for the sake of marginally better ground isn't the best idea in the world.  If coming up the outside was an advantage then surely they'd all be doing it?
Report Berbatov6 October 30, 2010 6:06 PM BST
I never mentioned the gorund. Watch any race at Naas and you will see jockeys come down the outside.
Report Princesse D'Anjou October 30, 2010 6:15 PM BST
I am mentioning the ground mainly because she gave away lengths of the stuff by coming that wide.
Report Berbatov6 October 30, 2010 6:25 PM BST
The horse was held up and travelled ok into the race. She was already wide coming into the turn. Would you rather she had held the horse up further behind the wall of horses on the inside? She had the whole straight to go past and was quite simply not good enough on the day. I would love to see your gauge for judging that she lost ten lengths.
Report Princesse D'Anjou October 30, 2010 6:41 PM BST
Would have prefered she hadn't held it up so far off the pace to be fair and had been able to come wide in her own time (if she so wished from a handy position rather than circling everything in the race but hey - that's life.
Report Berbatov6 October 30, 2010 6:42 PM BST
It could be worse, you could be living ion Brighton.
Report Princesse D'Anjou October 30, 2010 7:07 PM BST
or Cork.
Report sinndar001 October 30, 2010 7:16 PM BST
I backed White Star Line and it all went a bit pear shaped from 6 out when prom racers when fading down along the rail and WSL began to lose her good position, Imo the rider took a chance up along the rail as it would have taken too much out of her horse to angle across to the outside. Not much luck in running in fairness and this is MS H Mooney(7) not a top jock. WSL may not have had the best head carriage as DAS alluded t b4 the race but the big thing may be that WSL's breeding suggest he'd rather better ground anyway.

In fairness it is unforgiveable for a top jock to stay down the inside for instance, those who stayed down the inside in the Listed race that Bewitched won during the summer or Johnny Murtagh himself on Latin Love at the Birdcatcher meeting.

i wasn't that impressed with white star line in the paddock... and he was fancied... the lads close to Dessies yard had trebles done with Richard in the first in Newmarket, they're maiden winner and this fellow...he was well fancied

Paddy flood was at fault for Lucky William been beaten imo... heard him say to Copper he's improve massively... for a horse that jumped so smoothly lto i thought he jumped badly....

Sercoror was the horse to take outta the race imo... was unlukcy

Alarmed at how badly O Grady's two ran
