4 Cork , 4 Down ,1 Kerry , 2 Kildare , 1 Dub , 1 Tyrone , 1 Sligo , 1 Louth .  Shows a few things .

Overall a bigger spread of ability / recognition throughout the country .  Cork have the backs officially , Down have the forwards .

Different from previous years , the players nominated .  If you had told us in Down we would have 4 All-Stars in early April , we would have been sending for the straitjackets.

no cork forward is a joke imo

I agree. Daniel Goulding being the most obvious omission. Graham Canty given a token allstar......its getting to the stage where we could see Shefflin named in the hurling just to keep up his record.

Canty's All Star is a bit tokenish , particularly as it is probably at the expense of Kevin McKernan , possibly Down's most consistent performer from the quarter finals through to the final.  But only repeats a bit of history , Downs best back throughout the 1991 championship did not even get a nomination never mind a pick .  The media sometimes are myopic .

i feel sorry for john galvin.hes really a fantastic player and his displays this year were truly heroic.no cork or kerry midfielder for last 5 yrs could match him.strange no cork forward.surely goulding or o connor should be on it.the gpa one will be intresting.ill guarantee that galvin will be on that one.voted by the players.

kavvie, on what grounds could John Galvin possibly be entitled to an All-Star this year?

He played the league in Div 4 and was on the winning team in 1 out of his county's 3 c'ship games - that against Waterford.

He had good games against Kerry and Cork admittedly but it would have been very unfair on players who actually won things at the top end of the game this year if Galvin had taken a midfield spot.

only 2 bankers for me were Shields and Brogan
Quirke had a very good season in 2008, wasn't even nominated.
Nothing to do this year and lost out.
Cluxton unlucky not to be nominated

Pa Kelly - great season but so had Doyle
Canty - joke selection
Aidan Walsh & Kissane lucky enough, similarly Jordan
No Goulding - shocker
no idea about the Sligo lad, good luck to him
Kildare - about right
Down - about right

Cooper - good season in a bad team, he's won plenty and will win more so why bother

No other dubs - O'Carroll couldn't oust Shields. McAuley unlucky but I don't begrudge Keenan

John Galvin was better last season
if the season's were reversed he might have got it
