The last week has been one of fear for me.To my horror the lady in the dole office declared herself unhappy with certain things regarding my work record and sent me straight for my first ever job interview. As  you can imagine i left the dole office with my head and my life shattered, all sorts of things entered my mind. How was i going to tell my wife and children etc etc.Inside there was this unbearable fear as my world crumbled around me.After the shock of her telling me the possibilities and armed with a fairly blank CV i headed to my car and life took on a different meaning. After 37 years of unbroken service to the live register would my children have to see me work, would my grandchildren remember me as fondly as they should. These were the sort of things that ran through my mind.Every night lying awake trying not to focus on work, the waiting became very stressful, today was the day i'd know my faith, speaking of faith its amazing how dependent you become on prayer. So i rang the dole office to find out the results,i can assure you it is one fearful time. The lady was not available,i was told she would ring later, again the waiting was horrific.Eventually around 11 o clock this morning she rang with the news.i'm fine no trace of a job,got passed over thank god.The relief is fantastic.just thought i'd share that with you if ye were having abad day.God bless

While galway59 is completely out of order workrider is to an extent also.

This is an Irish Sports forum and surely to God ones personal health is not a suitable topic.

Your accusation is baseless. What other names do you think I post under? (apart from my old alias, Eye Mall Inn)

While i feel genuine sorrow for anybody who suffers from any condition or disease, call me cold or whatever you like but my sympathy doesnt extend to people who thought they had a disease but dont.Tobywong is rite too, peoples personal health issues  or in this case their good health should not be highlighted on a public sports forum.

Some ultra serious people on here, I and I'm sure everyone else on here have seen the effects and heartache of cancer at some level through family or friends or even personally and I know its a very serious sublect but you do also have to have a laugh sometimes. I have to admit I thought Galway59's peice on Workrider's prediciment(which don't forget had a happy outcome) was genuinely hilarious and well done as a work of satire on WR's original post.
Robo, Huddys etc, to be quite honest I think its one of the funniest thing's I've ever read on this forum rather than the sickest.

I have a fairly dark sense of humour and I think it's funny, nothing personal against you workrider as I don't know anything about how you earn your money but it is a funny take on a caricature that galway 59 has drawn of you, don't take it to heart man.

Neill d from Limerick robo, go to UL work in a bar in town, only ever been to Galway once and I don't remember most of it. Definitely not the same person, I was in no way having a go at cancer sufferers , just having a laugh at the idea of a bit of soap dodging thats it, nothing against WR either.

Whilst sympathising with Workriders plight, I found the initial post very amusing.

I agree with some comments on here.

It is a very serious issue, but the original post was quite funny.

I don't understand why such personal issues would be discussed on here anyway.

No dole offices take phone calls anymore although after 37 years maybe you have a direct line

Galway59 thinks his Magnus Opus is so good that he has the monosyllabic Mincer highlighting it for him, however there is a ring of truth in this parody and you get the feeling this sad lonely bunch have never held down a job between them..

I was reminded of one of Wonk's all time great threads last w/e by AFB's Dewhurst romp.

The thread where he opposes the AOB trained fav because he is by War Front and puts up his stablemate on debut. However such is the level of research that Wonks goes into, that it inadvertently escapes him that the alternative selection is by the same stallion. Only one WR!

Grin. Oh yes, he's fantastic for a laugh, no doubting it. My all time wonky favourite was when he started "an official world cup" thread. Unfortunately, the world cup had finished, with the rest of us moving on to Euro 2016!!! Nice one wonks Grin
