Louth had a 1-7 to 1-5 victory over favourites Cork before 72,732 fans at Croke Park on Sunday Septmeber 22, 1957. Because of the colour clash Louth wore red and white Cork wore blue

Cork originally wore Saffron and Blue. After the british army took the jerseys they borred Red and White and have used them since. Think the Blue were the munster jerseys. this year Cork will not wear blue due to kerry having a blue changed strip!

Did you know the only reason Dermot O'Brien(R.I.P)was Captain in the Final was because fellow Ardonian Patsy Coleman couldn't speak Gaelic.

think Louth wore green and Cork blue - because of the colour clash, the GAA made them wear provincial colours

so says my da he was at the game
