When Staunton retired from palying he should have gone to live up a mountain somewhere never to be heard from again. He would be remembered fondly as an Irish legend and top premier league footballer. Regrettably he has been exposed as a complete imbecile. |

The galwayman is quite correct,i must say i had never looked at that angle.People would never have realised how dim poor Steve was if he had not taken up management.Now apparently he was well advised in investments during his playing career and is reputedly well heeled,surely the people who advised him in business could see that this heightening of his profile which management was inevitably going to bring,was inevitably going to be embarassing for somebody who was such an intellectual lightweight.

I dont think its abuse to point out what everyone is aware of. Terming him an "imbecile" is being kind to poor old Stan. Thegalwaymans post made me chuckle.
