Not a track i like backing horses at but meetings are very popular there in Summer attracting great crowds to be fair.

It's a marvellous meeting since it went all national hunt 30 odd years ago.
A fabulous crowd was down there once again on Saturday for an all NH card. Top trainers Eddie O'Grady Willie Mullins Noel Meade and Dessie Hughes run horses there all the time. It was unfortuneate that Lucky At Last came down on the flat. These things happen. What ye have to understand we are talking about summer jumping at a fast pace on tight tracks and accidents will always happen. Contrast that to tonights meeting in Ballinrobe. The flat fare is muck with two 0 to 65's and a claimer along with ONE 0 to 90 handicap. None of the top trainers with runners. Oxx, Weld, Bolger, O'Brien, Kevin etc. I can see why Ballinrobe want to get rid of the flat fare fast and I am all in agreement. That sort of fare should be bottled up and put on in Dundalk ALL year round. |

Paddy Mullins isn't great is he, I remember once I'd word for this horse lonesome dove of Charlie Swans i think in a bumper at Mallow last season,The whole bookies seemingly was on this horse, I was on a coop placement and I'd my bus money to get home on it, she was off the bridle miles out, Nina was fantastic on her but it was looking like a night on the uncles couch and going to work in the morning in the same clothes as the previous day because Mullins was cruising, somehow, I don't know how he contrived to get this horse beat, a head I think it was, Nina was clearly up, the whole place was quiet, loads of fellas had their balls on this one of Swans and thought they were beat, Stone silent until someone pipes up, 'Good thing young Mullins can't ride' and the whole place just erupted with laughter. I've never held Paddy's riding skills against him since then. He's probably a future trainer is he not anyway.

hes awful, jumps up an down in the saddle trying to push a horse out, usually only wins on the machince, willie would have a lot more bumper winners if he put robbie mcnamara or nina up,in saying that though young magnier must be the worst jockey every to ride in a bumper, looks like hes riding a bike, worse than barry connell and thats saying something
|
|
By:
I'd say the weight is even an issue for Magnier aswell, another one to swerve
|
|
By:
RE Mullins he is total muck flapping around in the saddle like a chicken trying to fly
RE kilbeggan sh1t h0le with the winning post on a bend with sthe stewards on a podium blocking the camera angle |

Patrick Mullins seems to be improving a bit on judgement of pace in races but still looks terrible in a finish with about as much balance and polish as Thierry Doumen,as I stated in another thread relating to the OP,it's no worse than most of the rural tracks in the country-at least it gets a good crowd most meetings unlike a lot of the others.
