The ground was fast in Limerick and front runners were very much favoured by the conditions. Many horses on the night had no luck on this tight track.

Justin O'Hanlon said in his RP column today that there was a sparse crowd. How wrong he was. He probably only trotted between the press room and the parade ring during the night.

The restaurant on the first level was very full. A Hen's group, a large contingent from the Special Olympics who got a package deal and many who were there for a concert later on.

On the top level there were over 400 from the Limerick GAA.

These are the type of people that wouldn't have made it to the parade ring or bookies ring. The tote only had a skeleton staff and were overrun leave thousands of euros behind. I'm surprised they didn't draft in late cover as there was tote staff mingling in the crowd punting.

Cork on the other hand was empty yesterday. That was understandable as Cork and Kerry were serving up a memorable match up in Cork. Also they are a predominately NH crowd down there.

Pat Smullen was the star of the show with a brilliant ride from the front on Grace O'Malley in a thriller for the Noblesse Stakes.

All in all two marvellous days racing in fine weather and very easy to get around from the bookies to the parade ring etc.

Why don't Cork just get rid of Flat racing it is clear to see the people in the Cork area are just not interesting in it.

Having an all Flat boring card yesterday was never going to get much of a crowd, even with the match on!

Why call it Cork anyway? That is the biggest stupidity, level with Tipperary, of course!
