Spain in worst half of the draw, can't have them at the price.
Brazil look rock solid and if they win the group look set to meet England in the semi's. Dunga seems to have put together a strong squad and left behind the showboaters (ronaldinho and adriano). At 9/2 they'll do for me.

If you want an "above the odds" section I can give it to you, whether it comes in or not is another matter but anyway..

WillHills go 10/3 Ronaldo 3 or 4 goals and 9/1 5+
Bet365/SkyBet go 5/4 over 2.5
PP 13/8
Betfair 6/4

In WillHills, including stakes back you can dutch.. if go with €250/50, returns over a grand if 3/4 and €250 if 5+. If go with €200/100, get €750 if 3/4 and €800 if 5+. Basically youre getting nearly 2/1 covering both prices instead of the other firms just doing the 2.5 line. I've done the €200/100 option but getting 5 seems doubtful.. but could easily bang in a hat trick against North Korea though.

Portugal in a group with Brazil, North Korea and Ivory Coast.. Korea are the whipping boys obviously and Ivory without The Drog now I hear, theyre best priced 8/13 to go through but lower general. Ronnies the main man gonna at least take every free kick plus peno's without Nani in the team too.. all he has to do is score one against Brazil or Ivory and then bang in two against North Korea.

Then if they get through, which they most probably will, he'll have another game to get one if needed. If he gets two with a game to go can trade out handy enough too I suppose.

Scoring the goals is the problem, but the odds are very good compared to the others, IMO anyway.

€2,600 has been traded on the market here all at lower prices than dutching Hills prices btw..

Re. Ronaldo
Better again put 200 at 100/30 3 or 4 goals and 50 at 9's 5 or over with Hills and the other 50 on him to be top scorer here at 24's. Would be near top scorer if he was to get 5 anyway (would be a nice brucie bonus). Not likely but you never know.

Brazil for me 5.9, top their group 1.67 [was]

Algeria to finish rock bottom 1.9.

Fabiano top GS, Robinho looks big @ 40s, loves scoring goals for his country, loves playing with kaka

Spain to exit at last 16 stage,in Iberian epic, portugal to knock spain out,its a sneaky bet anyway
Report SamuelMorse June 8, 2010 10:50 PM BST

Don't underestimate North Korea.

think Rons will do well to score 2 goals for portugal, his a pathetic goal scoring record with portugal as every team try an mark d shyte out of him. Portugal are more defensive team these days

brazil for me.
cant have spain at the prices with their record in this comp
Report keen leader June 9, 2010 2:32 AM BST
my bet is very simple, 3 different bookies have laid me brazil and argentina coupled at 11/4.

i fancy one or the other to win the competition, unlike many who are laughing at the argies, I think they still have as good a squad as is in the competition, and they proved they had the real mettle when winning that last do or die crunch game away from home in the qualifiers.

if either get to the final, the biggest price they would be in 90 mins would be 13/8. so the cunning plan is the hold until the final, if both get there(unlikely due to draw), I collect, if one of them qualify for the final, i will just lay back my stake on the 90 minutes, and if the team wins in extra time then I win on the double.

forget all rubbish you read about african teams, they have no bench, outside the first 11 they are threadbare.

i also think group A will be very tight, s africa bound to get a few hometown decisions.... bet draws on each individual game in group A,  stop once in profit.
Report ricky butcher June 9, 2010 2:35 AM BST
Spain are a different team now. It's a team full of winners at club and international level. It's very boring but really Spain and Brazil are a league ahead of the rest, I can't see it being a case of the emperor not wearing any clothes when it comes down to it. They are both very solid. I'd be shocked if 1 of them doesn't feature in the final.
Report ricky butcher June 9, 2010 2:40 AM BST
Hometown decisions are a big factor alright, SA have already benefited from a few in friendlies recently. Uruguay, Mexico and France's strength is in attack though and I suspect even with their recent improvement and factoring in home town decisions SA are still a piss poor team who won't score goals against the top teams. They might scrape a couple of 0-0 or 1-1 draws but that's about it.

France not to top the group, Argentina to top their group with Nigeria to go out imo. Greece are a decent bet.

Argentina/Brazil outright for me.
Winner/top scorer combo's -
Argentina/RVP @200/1
Argentina/Villa @100/1
Brazil/RVP @100/1
Brazil/Huigan @125/1
Holland/Messi @175/1
Brazil/Villa @50/1

To qualify -
Mexico/USA/Chile/Paraguay - trebles.

Mexico to win Gp A @3/1
France not to Qualify @9/4
USA to win Gp C @5/1

Laying Engalnd vs USA.

Agentina will be lucky to get out of the group stages. Tactics during a game is crucial an Diego will be found wanting. Englanda and Argentina will be brutal, but both could still get to the 1/4s

Can you do a bet of team winner and highest goalscorer being from that team @ multiplied odds  -  or would this be seen as a 'related' event. or whatever they call it?

For example England and Rooney.-  --  or is anybody doing any specials for this type of bet?  Thanks.

Watching rtpv's videos - they made a good point about England - you can back them at 3/1 to go out in the 2nd rnd
- they will face either Germany or Serbia in the 2nd rnd
- they won't be 1/3 to win their 2nd rnd game
- dare I say it, an easy trade.

Thanks db  -  Unbelievable odds  -  Take Argentina and Messi  -  13/2 and 10/1 with PP  -  multiplied odds of 81.5/1

They are giving 22/1 for the double.  Pathetic.
Report ricky butcher June 9, 2010 1:05 PM BST
England could go out in the 1st round based on their 2 friendly international games.
Report ricky butcher June 9, 2010 1:06 PM BST
They're related bets.

The dutch in south africa tend to take over , they are value to make last 4 at the very least, they will face Brazil or portugal before meeting england in semis if all goes as expected. They flew through qualifiers and don't sem to be on many peoples radars. They will have a lot of support over there.

Spain are worthy favourites. Their squad is unbelievable, but 4/1 before a ball is kicked, not for me.

The only teams in the same league as Spain seem to be Brazil and (maybe) Holland. Holland have a good passage to the 1/4's, a dynamic attack and usually find (will need to) 1 or 2 players during the tournament.

Aside from these 3, Italy are the only other team worth serious consideration from a betting perspective IMO. Largely same personnel that won it in 2006, hard to beat and were a bit unfortunate in 2008 with injuries etc when beaten on pens by the eventual winners. Maybe a bit overpriced at 16/1? One caveat, a near fully fit pirlo, once he returns, is a must for their chances.

For all Argentina's merits, they have a lerk steering the ship so can't be backing them at 7/1.

Ditto France; Domenench was bailed out in the last WC by players who have since retired or lost form and their performances since then in euro 08 and WC qualifying have been abismal.

Germany have drastically overachieved in 3 of the last 4 major tournaments - Kahn's heroics in a poor 2002, home advantage in 2006 and much easier side of the draw in 2008. Added to this that their side is probably worse now than any other time during the past decade and they are one for avoiding at 14/1.

England's chances are completely dependent on rooney to keep them on the front foot against the better teams. Similarly, Portugal will may rely heavily on ronaldo for goals. So golden ball/boot on rooney or ronaldo may be a better bet with more outs for anyone who fancies either of these teams.

Having said all that, wouldn't be going too heavy on anything at this stage, would much prefer to see the first round or two of matches even if it means getting sligtly shorter prices.

small stakes on a these. Spain/Brazil final 10/1 Spain/Holland final 22/1. lay germany to qualify group D 1/4.

Agree Wages.

RVP has to be a bet for top goalscorer though at 16s.
Report Wages June 10, 2010 12:00 AM BST
ya he could hit form within that group and the 2nd round match.think all the 16s is gone now though.12s most places now.

My crazy bet of the WC is a dualcast of Brazil/NorthKorea at 50s or so.
Report Biodiesel June 10, 2010 12:46 PM BST
Robinho @ 50s to be player of the tournament, the boy is in the form of his life and scoring goals for fun. Think Lucio and Maicon also have big shouts

Had a few shilling on Milan Jovanovic @75/80s for him to be in the Top4 goal scorers on here.
If Serbia can get as far as the 1/4's he could easily get 4 or 5 goals.
Report ricky butcher June 10, 2010 2:34 PM BST
If South Africa are to get a goal or two it could be via a peno from a helpful official. Might be worth looking at.

Portugal score seven and Ronnie only gets one, I am INCANBLOOMINDESCENT.
