my advice would be to drop irishmarketing@betfair.com a line on this. They will then make sure there is a standard set of markets offered weekly. At present, this is done by the market operations team in the UK and they know less about GAA than me, which is saying something.

Liquidity is sh1t. They're not going to open more markets without more liquidity. Otherwise it's just pointless.

By:
ricky is right, no liquidity is so bad they need to concentrate it to just 3 markets,

Still haven't settled the Down game an hour and half after normal time is completed.

Enraging to have funds still tied up fully 2 hours after Down v Donegal game. They still haven't settled bets. Bye, Betfair! |

maybe time to try the other crowd-plenty of dough in the hurling

Theyre refunding all the money matched after the final whistle
![]() (Which if they suspended on time wouldnt be an issue anyway) |

how can they cancel the bets?
Who will win this match? At the start of play all unmatched bets will be cancelled and this market will be turned in-play. This market will not be actively managed therefore it is the responsibility of all users to manage their positions. Regular Time only. they are now ignoring their own rules? |

I'm on hold to them now.

The management of the GAA markets today has been nothing short of a disgrace. Funds tied up hours after the finish of the 2pm game, not suspending that game until long after the whistle, setting Cork/Tipp off early, suspending that game randomly 5 minutes in. Joke.
Surely Betfair, a billion euro company, have a spare Irish Sky Box in their operations room and could have somebody glance at it 4 or maybe 6 times at most on a weekend. Either manage it properly or don't do it at all imo. Matches are sometimes liable to start late in GAA, they need to manage it by looking at it or else just forget about bit and suspend it at a pre-programmed throw in time and we can all move to the other site. Hopefully they read these and take a few simple pointers. It's really easy to manage. There are 3 games a week to have to manage in running. I honestly think they only become aware of changes and problems once people email them. Going through emails from last year I emailed them a few times about problems with markets. Also, open markets as soon as the TV schedule is confirmed. They need to encourage liquidty. There were no previews of the games on betting.betfair.ie either. Poor showing. |

Calling me back because they dont even know why it was void..
"is this horse racing" SEETHING. |
|
By:
its happened before doyler and all bets after final whistle were void.
if people want to throw their money away they should be allowed. |
|
By:
Or they could suspend it when it finished like they do with every other sport.
|
|
By:
but i must say the cork game was ridiculously managed

My row is..
1) Not my problem people put money on. I just offered prices. 2) Not my problem Betfair didnt suspend. 3) Doesnt say anything about it in the T&Cs (by the way if you bet after its finished, dont worry we'll void - I dont see that anywhere) And 4) You know when youre watching tennis or cricket and the market goes 1.01 when its over that spilt second before it suspends because of courtsiders - they dont void that do they, and thats when the games over too. I'm making a fuss of this one to make a point. |

Plus the fact theyve changed my book, at game over I had..
-€120 Donegal €80 Down €80 Draw Thats somehow changed to -€160 Donegal €34 Down €80 Draw Then in extra time I laid the big prices to finish at.. -€1,467 Donegal -€1,580 Down €165 Draw So whys if changed from -€120 to -€160 and wheres my Down green gone, they didnt even know what they were voiding FFS. |

By:
whats stupid is these people could have layed the draw at 1.01 yet someone took down at 2/1 with me
|
|
By:
me too doyler i took a note of what i would have made, theyve voided 1 or 2 bets too many methinks

Back in 03 when they were first dabbling in gaa markets, they were offering games as draw no bet, i contacted them to find out why, they responded saying that in games like rugby league etc this was the way forward and would ultimately mean much higher liquidity - i told them that it showed a complete lack of understanding of gaa, draw betting is very popular in gaa, sure we all know the referee is playing for the draw from day one!!
That aside, liquidity on the main markets isn't too bad (in-running isn't great admittedly) and it shouldn't restrict them from putting up additional markets. It's hardly going to cost them to come up with a template for over 1.5 goals or over 29.5 pts etc, throw up the markets each week, maybe even promote them (alien concept to betfairs approach to gaa betting) and then suspend when the game kicks off and settle when the game is over. |

At present, this is done by the market operations team in the UK and they know less about GAA than me, which is saying something. if they have a dedicated irish marketing team, wtf don't they monitor these markets themselves, it's not as though there are that many specific irish events, one would think that it'd be a standard check every week, or that they'd come up with a plan and stick to it. Maybe purple is the way to go. |

Doyler tries to rob money off unsuspecting betfairians by laying bets after the result then complains about betfair not helping him conduct this con smootly enough.
