Mark Quigley showed some lovely touches. If they can get him back to form he will be very valuable for the rest of the season.

This is supposedly the marquee game in the league this year and to any observer watching on TV the stadium looked half empty. Put the Rovers fans in the Des Kelly and any excess can go up the Connought end.
Didn't look good on TV is the point.
General comment.1pm on a Saturday morning/afternoon is a killer.Took away from the atmosphere big time. This is supposedly the marquee game in the league this year and to any observer watching on TV the stadium looked half empty. Put the Rovers fans
Didn't look good on the telly is an understatement, the whole football scene here in Ireland needs to be reformed from grassroots level to the circus at Merrion Square/Abbotstown as the standard of player being produced domestically is abysmal...

disagree with most on here , i enjoyed the match as did most of the 1100 rovers fans .i felt we should have won it 3.1. good football played on a slippy surface . its so sad to see such a stadium looking in such a mess .what have bohs done with all the money they've got from european football over the years ? sad to see the gaa neanderthals coming on here and knocking soccer , when their own game is so dull kids are begging their dads not to take them to games . my god pat fenlon thinks every decision should go bohs way ,we gave him some stick but he took it in good heart .bohs really not the team of yesteryear imo .will be lucky to finish 2nd to rovers this year.

Totally agree that alot of gaa is abysmal to watch too. but can't help but think that the way youngsters are taught how to play football in this country is still stuck back in the dark ages. there should be far more emphasis on training youth players in a continental manner rather than the kick and chase english game...

I don't hold out too much faith workrider the whole setup has to be reformed from the top down, as a nation our institutions are just incapable of proactive thinking...

I'd love to know what a player like Anto Murphy is on. Strange to see such a limited player able to get in a championship winning team.

apple , we ,and a lot of teams in premiership have found the way to stop bohs this season .its simply this, close down deegan and you stop bohs .rovers much the better side imo .

From where I was watching Bohs were the better team final ball was poor. Had much more of the ball with Rovers restricted to long punts down the channels.
Rovers got into the game late on when they switched to 4-4-2.

As one of the few games in the league the general sports viewer would tune in to watch( as applehunter says probably the marquee game), the overall impression given was very poor. Attendance looked small, there was no athmosphere, standard was awful, excitment very little and overall entertainment was nil. Certainly wouldn't encourage someone to tune into league of ireland again in the near future.

Genuine question wr. HAVE YOU GOT ALZHEIMERS? How many times already this season have I told you Gary Deegan left for Coventry at the end of last season? Not only that, he is also on crutches at present. At this stage I would suggest if you don`t know who`s playing for the opposition then you don`t comment on them and stick to Rovers propaganda.

I`m obviously aware of that squigs, but Paul Keegan is not GARY DEEGAN. The former is a defensive midfielder, the one wr is obsessed with is an attacking midfielder. They simply cannot be confused. This is at the very least the fourth time I`ve had to post this fact. SOF also mentioned it but it`s not registering! And will you ever change the record about our finances wr? I`ll tell you where the money went. On winning 4 League titles ,2 FAI Cups, 1 League Cup and 1 Setanta Cup since you last won a trophy!

oops hit a nerve have i giant ,keegan or deegan does it really matter , you know who i mean .the state of dalymount is a crying shame a once great stadium turned to rubble .if winning titles and playing in europe returns a shambles of a stadium than i'm glad it was your lot that won them .i was in rome recently and seen better ancient sites ffs .

Looks like it was me who hit the nerve wr. I don`t pretend to know enough about your players to make claims about what they can or cant do. Therefore, I don`t do it. You obviously don`t mind making a fool of yourself. It`s also very disingenuous of you to pretend you care about Dalymount. You couldn`t care less about it. You just see the demise of a very old structure, as a stick to beat Bohs with. What did Rovers do with all the money from your 4 in a row and a barrel of cups in the 80`s dare I ask? It didn`t save your beloved Miltown, did it? It took you 21 years to find a home that you think is yours. I have news for you. IT`S NOT YOUR GROUND. Stop living in the past. You haven`t won a thing for 16 years and it obviously hurts like hell. Jealousy. It`s human nature. Quit spouting the same tiresome crap about us and get over it. If and when you win the league you get your bragging rights back. Until then. Know your place.

giant , i spent many a great day in milltown following rovers ,i also spent many wonderfull days in dalymount watching rovers win cup after cup , i also went to a european game every year in dalymount , yes you've guessed it to watch rovers . dalymount was also were i went from early childhood to roar on my beloved country .so dalymount means a lot to me .if only for the wonderful memories i have of that grand old lady .to see her stripped of her dignity saddens me immensely . milltown as you rightly pointed out was lost to irish football purely from a point of greed imo .havng said all that when i went into that great old stadium yesterday i was shocked to tell the truth .i have a deep affection for that place it holds a special place in my heart . so for you to say i dont care about dalymount is way off the mark mate.

That`s fair enough, and after I posted it I realised I shouldn`t have said "you couldn`t care less" because thats not for me to decide. I`m from the area and lived all my early life in the shadow of Dalyer.I`m not old enough to remember it`s heyday but I`m fully aware of it and I was there when we beat Rangers and Ireland played Italy so I at least remember when it was heaving. So don`t you think I`d rather not see it fall apart too? I don`t agree with a lot of the decisions our board has made in recent years, and I can`t account for those that were made previously, but I know it`s not the cut and dried case that you present.

Dalymount is a disgrace in fainess for the home of the champions of Ireland in 2010.
I wesnt to the Salzburg game last season with a friend who is from the Czech Republic and he couldn't believe the state of the place.
Admittedly we were over in the Connaught St. side but look at the terrace to the left.

Another fan of a club who hasn`t got it`s own ground, throwing mud! Where do you propose we find the cash to make it into an acceptable stadium? We barely get enough through the gate to pay for a few players wages ffs! Prize money for winning the League is less than for playing one game in the Champions League qualiying excluding gate receipts!!!
We recently got estimates of what it would cost to make the structure of that Connaught St side just "safe" to use. Something like 500K! No aesthetic improvement, all that will do is keep it standing! The Phibsboro Rd end is officially unusable by order and we don`t even own half of it anymore. The floodlights are another huge impending cost issue.
Dalyer is 100 years old next year and it`s heartbreaking for any older Bohs fans to see it fall apart but unless someone has a magic wand it will never be fixed and the only alternative is to move on.

WHAT A SHAM! Anger as Rovers fail to reveal absence of newlywed Twigg By PHILIP QUINN
Bohemians 0 Shamrock Rvrs 0
AFTER a gritty draw at Dalymount Park in which the integrity of the Shamrock Rovers players was without question, the club's insincere approach over the availability of Gary Twigg to play against Bohemians on Saturday cast the longest shadow of all.
Twigg got married on Saturday and was never going to figure against Bohs but that did not stop Rovers from engaging in shady tactics with the media and public.
Nor did it stop manager Michael O'Neill defending the club's controversial strategy, insisting it was all 'a storm in a teacup.' In the build-up to the game, Twigg was rolled out for a press briefing where he said how much he was looking forward to a game that he would not be involved in.
And the Rovers pre-match media bulletin made no reference to Twigg's unavailability, even though O'Neill had written him out of the Bohs game as soon as the Premier Division fixture list was known.
'It wasn't included in the team news. It didn't need to be out there,' explained O'Neill.
What Rovers were hoping to achieve by all this only they can answer — Pat Fenlon was told on Friday that Twigg would not be playing — but they did themselves no favours with the media, nor their fans who turned up expecting to see Twigg lead the line.
It would have been far simpler to have informed everyone in advance that Twigg was getting married, and that the date had been set in stone for some time — it would not have made a big deal.
'I don't know whether you're married or not but you don't organise a wedding within a week,' said a tetchy O'Neill afterwards.
'This wedding was organised two years ago, before he [Twigg] came to the club, before he even came to Brechin. It's not something that you can allow for.
'Obviously, we didn't know that we were going to be playing Bohemians today two years ago.
'Look, it could have fallen into the midseason break, anything might have happened. It's a storm in a teacup. The players knew about it, they had no issue with it. I'm sure the media will have fun commenting on it but it's not a huge issue for us.
'If you want to write about it because you're upset about it then I apologise but at the end of the day managers and players say loads of things that aren't true.
'You journalists write a lot of things that aren't true as well.' Asked was it not a bit strange for Twigg to talk about the game as if he was playing, O'Neill replied: 'That was up to him at the end of the day.' Pressed about Twigg's availability for further games, O'Neill exploded: 'He's off for four weeks to the Caribbean and then a cruise after that. He'll be playing on Tuesday for f***'s sake.
'We've played out there, it's been an end-to-end game and you're asking me about a player who isn't here. If you want to ask me about the game then ask me about the game.' O'Neill's stubborn remarks and his explanation for Rovers' scheming left a sour taste, more so than the post-match scuffles, which erupted at the final whistle when Glenn Cronin approached Sean O'Connor to apologise, and again during the warm-down.
'At the end, Glenn [Cronin] went over to shake hands and obviously their player didn't like it, and one or two others got involved who are normally involved,' said Fenlon.
Fenlon didn't see Act II. 'I was up with our lads so I didn't see what happened but I gather there were no digs thrown.
'If there's going to be a scrap you'd like to see a good one but I think it was just heat of the moment stuff, not anything else.' Defeats to Dundalk and St Pat's on Saturday night meant this was a point gained for both sides with Rovers unlucky not to have gotten something from a late onslaught.
Dessie Baker, who made a terrific impact as substitute, saw a shot turned on to the crossbar by Ken Oman and had a penalty appeal turned down by referee Dave McKeon.
Then in stoppage time, Chris Turner was denied brilliantly by Barry Murphy, the former Hoops keeper.

thanks for posting that article giant , cant understand why gary not playing caused such a stir ,i bet your lot were happy with that . getting back to dalymount , years ago i used to take my kids into the old stand when we were playing bohs and roar my head off for rovers .i got some nasty looks i can tell you and was told the odd time to hut the fook up :) but it never came to fisticuffs just good old banter ,my sons were telling their friends about it at the match on sat. i genuinely fret at the state of such a wonderful old football shirne just simply falling down .i dont blame the bohs supporters either it was simply out of their hands .it makes you think though the mount of txpayers money that was pumped into the gaa over the years and little or nothing going into soccer .giant i hope dalymount stays alive .

Does it matter that we own it or not. Turners Cross is probably the best stadium in Ireland or its size. Built bit by bit. Bohs build the Jodi stand 10-12 years ago and since then there has been zero development as far as I can see. Same with Shels, they built that stand behing the goal but nothing happened after that.
Was there any plan to improve the rest of the ground? Or were they abandoned when Liam Carroll flashed some cash?
You haven't argued with me about the state of the stadium, just wondering was there a long term rejuvination plan in place at any stage. Lotto money and sports grants are there for stuff like this.

Well Tubby a Donegal was killed in Dublin on the night of the All-Ireland, not by Dublin fans as such. It was an isolated incident. The scum who did it were put away thankfully. Let's hope no fans are killed in routine violence that happens when Rovers are involved. I have to use that Luas, the state of some of the people on it on matchdays. Where do they find them.

How many threads on here need to descend into a LOI/GAA bashing debacle? Can you lot not just accept that you don`t like the other organisation and move on? Its very tiresome, because the debate never yields a winner believe it or not?
Applehunter. I think it does matter if you are solely blaming us for the failure to upgrade a 100 year old structure. There wasn`t a bean in the country before the 90`s and then construction companies wouldn`t go near us during the boom unless the project ran into tens of millions. Just not financially feasible, thats why the members voted to take a purpose built stadium on the outskirts as part of the proposed sale.
