1. Each competitor has 2 points to use every day there is an Irish racing meeting. The bet is either 2pts win or 1 pt e/w. If not specified the bet will be assumed to be 2pts win, whatever the price.
2. Competitors will be allowed to take a price on weekend racing/races priced up overnight, otherwise we’ll settle at SP.
3. No lays, place only, betfair prices, doubles, trebles etc.
4. If there are two or more Irish meetings on that day there is still only one bet.
5. Each competitor has two 5 point bets to use during the competition. One bet to be used by end of Sunday 27th June (Irish Derby Day) and the other to be used from Monday 28th June until end of the comp (August 1st). If somebody selects a 5 point bet, this horse may not be used as a 5 point bet by anyone else that day.
6. Bets are on Irish horse racing only.
7.Competitors may nominate in advance a "competition holiday" which must be taken in chunks of not less than a week .
8. Not posting unless stated on holiday for the week or fortnight will be the equivalent of a -1.
9. Returns will NOT include your stake.
10. Entrants will be accepted up to a week from Saturday.
11. Entrants should be prepared to keep own score.
12. Starts Saturday 22nd May (Irish 2000 Guineas Day) & ends on Sunday August 1st (final day of Galway Festival).
13. All welcome to enter.

In recent comps the SP/take a price issue has been troublesome - I hope what I have suggested in rule 2 is a fair compromise. Please let me know what you think about it (& the grey area which is whether to allow prices to be taken on 'twilight' meetings) so we can make a final decision before the comp starts

DI, one query.
I have noticed in the past that not everyone uses their 5 pointers esp if they are in the lead by say 3 points and there is only a day or two left in the competition. Should they not be penalised if the 5 pointer hasn't been used. |

My view would be that we could take prices on all meetings or none at all and leave it at SP. |

I dont think there should be any 5 pointers. The competition appears to boil down to whoever lands their 5 pointers. I think it should be a 2 points win or 1 point e/w for all selections.

olc - read the compromise bit. Prices for weekend stuff & races priced up over night, when no one has an excuse not to get a price, sp the rest, seems a fair trade. (Though I wouldn't argue with prices all the way.
 )Agree about the 5pointers, and docking if not used. |

I misread that bit about the 5pointers!
I don't want to see them gone, agree they must be docked if not used. I think they allow you to have a once a month real big bet which you would be likely to do in real terms. Maybe make it so the 2nd 5pointer has to be used before the start of the last week!? This way it does stop someone getting lucky with a pin job, and still allows others a week to catch up. |
