5.20 - A decent Beginners Chase to kick off the card - Trimbellina would have won easily lto but for falling at the last at Limerick - Loosen My Load a winning G2 novice hurdler - Arabella Boy 2nd in a G3 hurdle lto and Head of the Posse only out of the 1st 3 twice in 11 races look the 4 to concentrate on with preference for Head of the Posse, beaten into 2nd behind 2 decent sorts in Won in the Dark and Cousin Vinny previously this year, he got his head in front lto wen beating a decent yardstick in Deutschland over hurdles- if his jumping holds up should go close in this competitive affair

5.50 - See U Bob was outclassed at Aintree lto but b4 that had defeated Kempes (G1 and G2 winner since) on his Chase debut and was 2nd to Citizen Vic who was a dual G1 winner, just gettin outstayed late on

6.20 Nap - Old McDonald a quality bumper performer should be good enough to make a winning hurdling debut here, 4th in The Punchestown Champion Bumper and just touched off wen 3rd at the Curragh lto- if he runs to form should prove too good for these

6.50 - a very tough handicap hurdle - was a few bob around for Hot Friend e/w lto and he is a token selection here- ran a decent 3rd at Tramore 2 runs ago and raced prominently at Limk lto and was nt hard pressed wen passed, worth a few bob e/w

7.20 nb - Another Stick a pin race but 1 i think could run well at a nice price is Katies Jem e/w who is coming down in the weights- a CD winner off 98 she was raised 9lbs for that win and struggled since but she races off 102 with Bryan Cooper takin 7 off- she travelled well through the field lto at Kilbeggan b4 fading out of it late on and has decent e/w claims here at a price imo

7.50 - Energisers run lto was too bad to be true wen he went off fav for a handicap at Kilbeggan, b4 that was a solid 2nd behind Hoochie Mama(runs in de 7.20) back into maiden company should run a big race here

8.20 - Lucky Wish has ran some very good races over fences since last seen over hurdles and if runnin to that level should win this

8.50 - Mickelson, not the strongest of bumpers and have had a bit of a word for this earlier so wil do for me in an open lookin affair

Good stuff BJG.
The first two races are very good for the time of year.
I think I might side with Trimbellina Confused At least that dc RL is not up on her! If she shows no ill effects of that fall, she is basically a winner in a beginner's.

Will look again closer to the time.

will ground be problem for head of the posse? think all his best runs were on soft iirc.

think rekaab could be the one for 6.50, although if you look back at martin brassil's winners you'll note that a disproportionate amount are running in their 2nd hcap hurdle or hcap chase. monet cinto doesn't fit the trend, but he was backed into 6/4 with ruby up and finished 2nd in his 2nd hcap chase befoe winning the third.

think the step up in trip indicates today is the day for him though. the post race excuses are already there.

82 on flat (peaked at 107) and 95 today over hurdles, could be thrown in if fit. best form was on good ground, was handicapped with 3 runs on soft/heavy gound ove 2m

Head of the Posse a n/r.
Ground must be quick enough, there are a few showers due this afternoon.
Think I'll stick with Trimbellina at the prices and given her preference for the quick ground.
Have been a fan of LML from the start, but am willing to oppose today.

Good money for Loosen My Load in the first and Sandymount Lady in the 6.20
By:

When: 18 May 10 17:00
Dont know what to make of Sandymount Lady. She did not improve for racing last summer anyway and her two runs over hurdles do not amount to much. Her run the last day showed a degree of promise again but is she good enough to win a race. See Mr Wood has got rid of her as well as Mrs Wood..

Why did Flood go so wide on the mare?
By:
downallstar
When: 18 May 10 17:27
Thought for a minute they'd given the mare too much rope, but good efforts by the front two. LML looks a real good jumper, and should get 3miles.

Dunno GI, he did seem to cost himself a fair few lengths. Plain

I wonder would they run the mare in the Galway Plate if the gnd wasn't soft?
By:

Cost her the race Down I'd say. She gave up about 8-10 lengths at the bend out of the back straight and into the home straight aswell.

Winner jumped well and looks a nice prospect.

Runner up would have won has he plotted a straight course, just imo of course. Silly

Took her ridiculously wide.

Small win on IC in the next, could make a case for & against the top 4 here. Gnd is a ? for IC, if he handles it he should win this.

If Justified retains any of his old ability he should go well here. Promising enough return at the festival, gonna take a chance with the bounce factor.

surely Datokepe in bumper is a cert, 10 lgths of cadspeed and gates of rome, both, 125's in ratings, so with improvement for the run must win the bumper with katie booked - has run potentially to 114 anf good maiden winners in behind, bet of the day for trainer in form
