maybe they are trained to do it that way

yeah its a joke. ladbrokes offer bog but if you collect the bet the same day you wont get pair the better price unless you specifically tell the cashier that it started bigger. If you leave it til the next day they do seem to be settled correctly most of the time. i have had problems with relating to the settling of bets with r4s also.

Laddies computer system is the exact same they use across the water in britain where board and early prices arent guaranteed unlike in many shops over here, so if your selection finishes at a better price the cashier always has to manually settle the bet at the greater sp.

good to know that

old news
don't lose the head with the cashier, take it up with head office I had a screaming match with some clueless old cow one evening and nearly got barred, head office admitted later I was completely in the right, embarrassed about it now |

Laddies are a nightmare alrite u have ta tell them it returned better can be a bit frustrating alrite with the r4s!!! Work in the industry get my fair share of abuse from fairly clueless people who think they have a devine right ta evrything a la double result on sunbow last sat nite!!! So can c both sides really!!!

I work for Lad's and this prob happens over and over again. I'm pretty sure we are the only company where the system doesn't automatically settle @ greater price. Most inexperienced cashiers will just scan a bet and pay it without checking it which obv causes problems. In saying this, the trainin is brutal.I was lucky to be trained by two experienced, friendly managers but some of the cashiers coming thru now dont have that luxury.I heard that Powers have these training camps for new staff for 2weeks before they start which i think is a great idea, may not be very cost-effective but almost essential in my opinion and would certainly iron out some of the above problems.

Agree with the original poster. I was in a shop on Baggot St. the other day, (up from the Waterloo Pub, not PP’s), and confusion reigned among the staff when I tried to have €400 on a 6/4 chance. It’s embarrassing for staff and punter when they are left waiting just to get told you have €100 at 6/4, and the rest SP (the horse was returned 2/1, I know, I'm a mug)

crouchingtiger, would you still bet your wobbly bits if it were the case that the horse was agapanthus 6-4 e.p and returned 2-1 sp in 4:10 @ brighton last monday ???
|
|
By:
Rowley, are you saying that you asked for 400 at 6/4 Agapanthus in vc shop and were offered 100?
|
|
By:
No just a guess of what the other fella was askin for as i'd say it was around the time other firms were going sp only in fairness, but CT did say "any horse"

If it was agapanthus that is |

Rowley - would i still bet my wobbly bits?
yes i would let him post the knockback here and I will get it verified. If it was genuinely knocked back as he described I will make a €500 donation to a charity of his choice - no strings attached |

Maybe tescos???? |
|

Crouching are you gone from VC's or are you just referring to moving to Gibraltar and head office and no longer runnig the shops in Ireland. It will be good news indeed for all Irish Punters if you have left VC completely as most of us have been tortured by you down the years.
|
|
By:
I'll take that as a compliment Lustrumm - my entire job was persecuting punters just like u!! lol
|
|

Do they still close your online account after you back a winner or a couple that shorten? My last VC acc only lasted 3 days i think and they didnt even have the decency to inform me it had been closed, just tried to log in and found out.

It's no compliment I assure you Crouching. I just always felt you use subversive means to find out about people and their knowledge and I think you have taken a personal vendetta against any Irish Person you fear might know more than you and therefore might be in a position to win.
As your good friend Hammy always say "Punters can win too" I am afraid it is a legacy of your training with PP's that you feel that the punter has no right to ever win and you will do your utmost and use any means available to ensure you dont I know all is fair in love and war but some day you will have to look in the mirror and say to yourself was all that I did honorable. |

Strong opinions for a man that joined betfair in Jan 2010 and entirely misplaced as anybody that knows me well will attest to. |
