maybe we should cry for the poor sp bookies...would you like to be included in our next Novena prayers. Any sp bookie that was caught today absolutely and utterly deserved it. I've never seen such rubbish talked in my life, BC deserved every penny he got. He planned it, he obviously paid for it and he executed it as perfectly as he could and these tears from spoiled sp bookmakers is nauseating. Well done to Mr. Curley! Bookmakers don't cry when the average punter loses his week's wages repeatedly, they don't go home and have a guilty conscience then....no tears then.

On another matter I went into a Powers shop at three or so and put the first three of those horses in a yankee with a horse that became a non runner. Took the prices on the three movers which were 5/2 5/2 and 2/1. Bet prices checked money paid over and docket received. About two minutes later the girl who took my bet informed me that I could only take S.P. on those horses or void the bet.

Part two. Were they within their rights to do this as I will only get half of what I would have got if prices were allowed to stand. I believe there is someone here who works for them

They were definately not within their rights to do this once the bet had been accepted. There have been a few stories on here recently of cashiers running out the door after customers to tell them the prices they checked and took has suddenly changed or that the traders dont want the bet after it has been struck or they have reduced the stake from 200 to 25.
I would advise anyone in this situation to tell them to go feck and that you will be back to collect your winnings IN FULL if said horse wins.
Its been said that the starter of this thread works for PP so maybe he has an opinion.

Their trader in head office has told me that the bet is only accepted when entered into their system which was done at S.P. Not when monies are paid over or even when docket is issued.

im not standing up for pp staff here, but what u must understand is, when u place ur bet the girl scans it and it sits there in a que......there might be 2/3/4/5 or maybe more tickets in the que before urs is prosessed.. then the second its prosessed and gone to dublin its knocked by the traders.... so its only then she knows , and has to inform u, but u may be gone!!

Of course they were right, sure they're always right. How anyone could have the temerity to question their operating procedures is beyond me. Are they not the punters pal afterall? In answer to the original poster, does anybody really care how many shops would have closed. Frankly I could'nt give a damn.

oldbean if you are correct thats just ridiculous. When is a bet a bet? Surely if you check a price, pay for the bet and the cashier hands you back your stamped/scanned docket theres no way anyone hes any right to question its legitimacy, especially if you have left the shop.I would love to see some dopey PP trader explain how this process works in a court of law if it ever came to it.
