Unbelievable round.

Made the cut by a shot I think.

1000.00 €186
Report gentlemanjohn May 2, 2010 9:42 PM BST
What a shot from the bunker on 16! A round for the ages this one!
Report Chris Brown May 2, 2010 9:44 PM BST
history in the making
Report Allez May 2, 2010 9:53 PM BST
Amazing day for golf, McIlroy wins at on his birthday, and Ishikawa shoots 58 in Japan to win. Sick stuff from the youngsters.
Report Dan Chipowski May 2, 2010 9:59 PM BST
An amazing round, well done son.
Report gentlemanjohn May 2, 2010 9:59 PM BST
Nearly holes on 17 to go -10! Dunno what kind of course ishikawa got his 58, but Quail Hollow is up among the tougher courses on the pga circuit & the greens are alomst as quick as augusta. What mcilroy is doing is simply unbelievable
Report dkelly69 May 2, 2010 10:08 PM BST
Middle of the green on the last. All over well done Rory
will quiet a few doubters after this performance ( myself included :-) )

Report dasium May 2, 2010 10:15 PM BST
congratul**ingations Rory... truly amazing performance and good luck to anyone who got the 1000/1
Report ricky butcher May 2, 2010 10:15 PM BST
As somebody said on the golf forum this was always going to happen at a very nice price, someday. Won't get a price on him like that ever again. Granted he was in poor form but was 80s before tournament I think. He's a God send for the Yanks after Tiger's problems.
Report Ebeneezer Goode May 2, 2010 10:16 PM BST
He'll do great if he ever plays for team britain.....cos thats who he wants to play for..... Ill never back him nor support him.
Report gentlemanjohn May 2, 2010 10:20 PM BST
He'll be gutted to hear that i'm sure
Report Allez May 2, 2010 10:20 PM BST
4th youngest winner on tour. Only three younger Tiger, Phil, and Seve.

Not bad company for the lad.
Report ricky butcher May 2, 2010 10:21 PM BST
BBC Sports Personality get on. Presuming England don't win the World Cup. 99/1 before today I think.
Report Kriskin May 2, 2010 10:23 PM BST
Ebeneezer - talking absolute** The man is more Irish than u. I know his family very well
Report Ebeneezer Goode May 2, 2010 10:29 PM BST
Gentle man john, Im sure he wont care. Im just stating a fact He's Norn Ireland, if golf becomes an olympic sport he wants to play against Harrington and McGinley. He'll be bowing to the butchers apron not the tricolour
Report lapsy pa May 2, 2010 10:29 PM BST
good man kriskin, shame anyone can try to detract from a truely great performance.
Report Hatch May 2, 2010 10:31 PM BST
religon always brought into it,whats youre problem.
Report Ebeneezer Goode May 2, 2010 10:33 PM BST
Not one word said about religion... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/golf/6239835/Rory-McIlroy-would-face-diffic...
Report gentlemanjohn May 2, 2010 10:34 PM BST
Thanks for that. You sound like a great republican, well done
Report Hatch May 2, 2010 10:34 PM BST
Wasnt born in ireland, born Northern Ireland to my knowledge is part of Britain.
Report RamonSanchezPizjuan May 2, 2010 10:38 PM BST
He said he did not care and said Britain as he has a British passport, drivel article.
Report Viva Las Vegas May 2, 2010 10:40 PM BST
I am speechless after that performance.
Report thegalwayman May 2, 2010 10:41 PM BST
Outrageous stuff.
Report Win only - Sp only May 2, 2010 10:43 PM BST
What a turnaround, was hacking it all over the place 3 or 4 weeks ago.

Superb stuff
Report Kelly May 2, 2010 10:47 PM BST
Affiliations aside , fantastic performance tonight . The Olympic thing is a minor distraction and if it comes to it could be tricky for NI based / born people in a lot of sports . Makes a bit of a nonsense of the nationality / allegiance thing this "divided " island . But I know he thinks Irish , which to me is significant .

Listening to the pundits tonight , the factor they are missing is that his back was sore . Reckon he came home and sorted it out from reports . Well done . Hope he can build on it , with Tiger low , golf needs nights like this !
Report Ebeneezer Goode May 2, 2010 10:48 PM BST
Hatch your actually wrong.its part of the uk. being united kingdon of great britain and norn ireland. anyway he wants to play for team britain, sound thats his choice. He'll never over shadow the great philip walton...what a putt
Report ACE KICKER May 2, 2010 10:54 PM BST
mcillroy considers himself british, there is no secret on that matter, any one who knows anything knows that Holywood were he comes from is orange.
Report Kelly May 2, 2010 11:12 PM BST
Does not live in Holywood , where his father was bar steward for some years . He now lives in the same parish as I do . Very mixed area religion and affiliation-wise .
Report moneypenny May 2, 2010 11:22 PM BST
Incredible performance by the lad. Cost me a nice little double i had on Quiros and Lefty but sure what harm
Report downallstar May 3, 2010 12:51 AM BST
WD Rory, but you always get some cnut like Ebeneezer Goode trying to stir sh!t up on here! And he'd be the one to report someone too!
Leave fkn religion out of sport ydc.
Report Jockey Full Of Bourbon May 3, 2010 1:23 AM BST
well said downallstar,a great sporting achievement, the chap is a marvellous ambassador for a region that really could do with one.A fine example of cross- border co-operation with the great J.P.Fitzgerald on the bag
Report ricky butcher May 3, 2010 3:14 AM BST
Northern golfers from whatever "side" always make great attempts to avoid being pinned done as one thing or the other. Fair play to them. Darren Clarke at the Ryder Cup celebrations, for example.
Report Ebeneezer Goode May 3, 2010 3:41 AM BST
Down All star, quick question..when did I mention religion??? oh and one more, what gives you the impression Id be first to report you??? Fact is, young Rory said; "if golf becomes an olympic sport I'd play for team GB"...all I say is, forget the pretence he's irish....he's like the edge and adam clayton who travel on british passport....irish when it suits them but british inside....
Report one last chance May 3, 2010 3:46 AM BST
l down lad doing well great to see in all fairness he aint the star of the county down
unreal the last 2 rounds he played
Report Chris Brown May 3, 2010 4:33 AM BST

any "Irish" person who says they would rather play for Great Britiain if they were given the choice is of no interest to me
Report Jockey Full Of Bourbon May 3, 2010 3:03 PM BST
you can remain in the dark ages with the rest of your GAA playing colleagues in Tallaght
Report irishro May 3, 2010 3:48 PM BST
Why you feel the need to put Irish in "......."?! Rory was born in Co.Down. Bet you can't stand Ed Joyce or Eoin Morgan either?!
Report Ruby Ruby Ruby Rubeee!! May 3, 2010 6:20 PM BST
I dont play GAA in Tallaght
