I know people disagree a lot on who the best overall jockey.
Is but is it the same for amateurs and conditionals or is there a general agreement on whos the best in each category?

Gary Carroll clearly is a exceptional Jockey and Coolmore will certainly come knocking for him one day.

Out for most of 2009 with a bad back injury.

He came back late last season but it was still at him.

Haven't seen his name against any runners in 2010 yet.

Hope that injury has cleared up for him.

ok folks i am going to give you some real gold dust.

you probably would agree with the view that nina carberry is the best lady rider most of us have ever seen. well the 2nd best is about to launch herself on the flat in ireland this summer.

a girl from kerry called kate o brien. she has ridden in the region of 100 flapping winners in the past 4 or 5 years and she is now turning her attention to the real stuff. this girl has a brilliant sit on a horse and a balance comparably to the carberrys(nina and paul). she is a fantastic judge of pace and certain to rob races from the front, akin to the great cauthen of a previous era.

kate is studying in one of the munster unis at the moment, she rides out during the week for tom hogan and has decided to serve her apprenticeship with the nenagh trainer. one would imagine her opportunities with be limited initially given her munster base, but by the autumn expect her to be in big demand. when she gets accustomed to the different tracks, you can virtually consider her 10 or 7 lb claim to be a reduction in the horses rating for the given day. on her flapping peformances kate was on a par to danny mullins and eric mc and miles better than harley.

expect a slow start to her career and things to gradually pick up, i would be willing to wager an even monkey that this girl will record a level stakes to sp profit in her first 100 rides.
