curragh tommorrow is the one meeting that i watch the most without a single bet

then we have lincoln and dubai world cup
aintree grand national
scottish grand national

then punchestown and sandown

of all i'd say i like punchestown is my least fav

My two against the field in the Irish Lincoln are -

Designate Decoy - 3rd last year, runs here of only 3lbs higher, has had a prep run this year on the AW which looks to be a bonus as both wins have come after 12 and 5 day breaks. EW @14/1.

Crystal Idea - first run for its new stable, was 2nd fto last year and won his maidn over the CD after a nice little break(55days), 7lbs claim leaves him on a nice mark. EW @25/1.
Report Terry Venables March 20, 2010 8:13 PM GMT
DAS

I like Crystal as well.

The others that interest me are Harriers Call & Motafaany ( who looks like been fav)
Report Major Rumpus March 20, 2010 8:14 PM GMT
Another vote here for Harriers Call.

Madeira Man in the first well forward apparently
Report ilikewavingatbuses March 21, 2010 9:24 AM GMT
although i was happy to see that, i then proceeded to look up the horse and stable u door knob, has a good pedigree for speed and the stable won it last year, and o briens tend to need the run so thats more positives than negatives, thats why fish breath!!

Report ilikewavingatbuses March 21, 2010 9:42 AM GMT
what the f uck are u talking about!im not trying to 'fool ' people!everything i say is on this forum for people to see!!i like the look of Madeira Man and i wont be touching the meeting!!who in their right mind would not knowing any information, fitness etc!!and with regards to tips, im not a tipper, and wouldnt trust anyone to follow MY 'tips' as im simply making a selection in the race that i think could win and i hope im right!!i cant post my thoughts or selections without having to bet myself no??jesus christ!
Report DEVLIN-LFC March 21, 2010 9:48 AM GMT
got to agree with him anyone touching that first race needs the head examined or shouldnt be allowed to bet on horses its a blind race
Report Giant Strides March 21, 2010 9:56 AM GMT
The market is very rarely wide of the mark in these events.
Are you telling me you`ve never backed an unraced horse?
Report ilikewavingatbuses March 21, 2010 10:00 AM GMT
no i have, but i learned my lesson v quickly!!!followed the money, didnt work, said i wouldnt again, havent ever since!!if i was having a bet id prob just lay the fav for a place IF a few horses came for money assuming one or two are believed to have a decent chance but other than that i wouldnt bother!
Report ilikewavingatbuses March 21, 2010 10:36 AM GMT

9,265.30 for a €1 lucky 15 at sp and lots more if you took the prices in the morning as pollen was 10s this morning
Report Deep Impact March 21, 2010 3:14 PM GMT
Pollen was 16's
Report vinnie_roe March 21, 2010 3:18 PM GMT
I'd love to know if someone did a lucky 15 or yankee at the morning prices. Tommy did mention after the first 2 went in, that the others would love the ground as well. Boomkakers were very slow to react after the 3 timer went in.

Massive crowd down there. probably all the freebys out of the two annuals. I couldn't get a place to park in the members. 1st time in many a long day.

The closing of the road at the back of the stand for pedestrians was crazy. It was a long walk for the pensioners through the car park. Accidents could happen.

Jim Bolger had two box loads of horses. When i was going in his first lot were making there way home.

The Curragh made a few improvements.

1) A nice little park at the back of the champagne bar which will be nice in the summer when the plants have flowered.

2) A new tote lounge ala Punchestown and Galway. A bit noisy. Pity they don't put a few bookies spread around the bars. It would save having to stretch the legs and come down.
Report 3winnersandasecond March 22, 2010 7:07 PM GMT
Soapp,
The Curragh have had the entire winter to get their act together and whilst their have been improvements there have also been deteriorations.
1. I would consider it esssential that the race card contain the names of all horses running at that meeting.
2. If you wanted to enter the racecard draw you had to sacrifice (ie tear out) half the field for the feature race before the race was run.
3. Car Parking is a total joke and virtually everyone I met complained to me about it. I really take exception to an Annual Members Car Park which I was told was full when I could count at least 40 spaces. To add insult to injury it was full of cars which displayed no sign of the car park badge required. The injury was further compounded by parking in Cark Park 6 (down near the now closed West End entrance) which was littered with glass.
Welcome to a new season at the Headquarters of Irish racing and please bring a pair of hiking books and a compass it you intend travelling by car....

On the plus side the plate of *****for the kids was 20c cheaper from the new catering franchisees.

Note to the Curragh, don't waste your money on marketing until you can get the basics right for those who will go racing. Keep cheesing the punters off and they won't return.
