there are very few companies with a strong union left in this country. unions have closed more companies here than any recession and workers are still subsidising their huge salaries.

The truth imho is that communication between employees and their unions/employers is abysmal these days.

I am part of a union in my work and i have had 3 texts in 2 years as communication and thats it. Most people stick with the unions out of fear of isolation, that is ending though and most are seeing the unions as the selve serving entities they are.

Once the Government's objective of busting the unions is fulfilled then is it a case of workers gratefully accepting any wage package employers will offer?

The writing is on the wall as to where the ordinary willing worker is concerned and the public has played right into the Government's hands regarding the political spin in achieving the polarisation of the public/private sectors. We are already experiencing a a rapid degeneration in public services and this is only the early days. Wait until IBEC really start to run roughshod over the private sector worker and we really will have an explosive**tail.
