A Catholic bishop in charge of an Irish diocese plagued by sex abuse scandals and cover-ups has asked parishioners to help fund compensation.

Dr Denis Brennan, from Ferns in Co Wexford, said the appeal was not about sharing the blame but asking for help to meet responsibilities. He said the abuse scandals and subsequent cover-ups to protect dangerous clergymen were caused by paedophile priests, mismanagement and poor understanding.

I find this incredible, why doesn't the Church sell some of its many assets to fund these claims.
I hope people do not contribute.
