The meeting which was scheduled for Naas yesterday (Sunday 21st February) but was cancelled due to a covering of snow on the track will not be rescheduled. However, Horse Racing Ireland have announced that the three Graded races will be transferred to the under mentioned meetings:

The Nas Na Riogh Novice Steeplechase (Grade 2) over 2m 4 furlongs will now be held at Thurles on Friday 26th February as Race 351G. Fresh entries will close for this race by 12 noon tomorrow (Tuesday) 23rd February with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Thursday 25th February.

Good thinking!!!

With a bit of luck Naas might be given a meeting on the 24th/25th July. That is the week-end before Galway. Incredibly there is nothing in the calendar for that week-end. Where will we get our**for those of us who avoid the Galway festival!!

Great thinking by HRI or whoever does this kind of thing. The new races are now too close to Cheltenham for connections of any horse thinking of going there,to actually bother taking part.Well done Mr Kavanagh,i commend you, what a clever feller you are.

I'm sure they could re-schedule them in the past and stick everyone into the Delorean and hit 88mph.

The earliest they could do realistically is Wednesday to re-open entries after the weekend plus some people might want to actually watch them.

To tell the truth i am delighted as i am stuck in one of the horses who was entered in one of those races and is not going to cheltenham.I was probably one of the few on here yesterday hoping Naas was going to get called and that they would reschedule something like this.
Report galway59 February 22, 2010 5:32 PM GMT
Why couldnt the whole meeting be rerouted to Fairyhouse tomorrow, with the Fairyhouse meeting tomorrow going to Wednesday. The meeting scheduled for Wednesday could be run anytime next week as not one horse out of that card will be at Cheltenham.

Also at Leopardstown on Sunday, the Ladbrokes Cheltenham Bumper SeriesPro-Am Flat Race (Race 37G) is now an I.N.H. Flat race for four, five, six and seven years old only that have not won more than two INH Flat Races or National Hunt Flat Races and not as previously published.

Thurles on Friday 26th might even be too close to Cheltenham for horses that ARE going, like An Cathaoir Mor (for the Arkle on 16th).
Report moneypenny February 22, 2010 7:46 PM GMT
looking at weather forecast it must be doubtful any of these meetings will go ahead anyway
Report soapp February 23, 2010 5:25 PM GMT
I reckon they will go ahead. The worst of the weather is gone imo.

pittoni is a very danegrous customer for the triumph winning three times on soft ground on flat tracks hardly coming off the bridle.

Pittoni's dam key change won the yorkshire oaks was second in the irish st leger and third in the irish oaks.
The dam of key change was bred by the aga khan there is clearly plenty of stamina in pittoni's pedigree.

Pitton's action also shows the horse would prefer better ground than that he has encountered contrary to what his trainer states.

So for pittoni to be winning on flat tracks on heavy ground on the bridle shows the horse could be very special when he encounters a stiff finish on better ground.
When davy russell got off him at leopardstown he said this was a very good horse, usually a man who keeps his cards close to his chest.
What more can the horse do but win 3 from 3.
